Zephyr Rail is hiring a Project/Field Engineer to support owner-side construction management activities on active LA Metro and transit capital construction projects throughout Los Angeles. This is a field-based PM/CM role focused on construction oversight, contractor coordination, inspection, documentation, RFI/submittal management, field changes, schedule support, pay application review, stakeholder coordination, and project closeout. This is NOT a design engineering position. This role is best suited for a civil, construction management, transportation, rail, transit, or heavy civil professional who is comfortable working in active construction environments and coordinating with contractors, design teams, agency staff, utility partners, and third-party stakeholders. Day-to-day responsibilities include field inspections, daily inspection reports, progress documentation, RFI/submittal coordination, field meeting support, quantity verification, pay application support, issue/risk tracking, coordination with utilities and adjacent stakeholders, support through testing/commissioning, punch list development, and closeout documentation. The business need is to provide reliable field engineering and construction administration support so Zephyr and its client project teams can maintain construction progress, contract compliance, quality, safety, documentation accuracy, and stakeholder alignment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field required. EIT preferred. PE is a plus. 3-8+ years of experience supporting rail, transit, transportation, or heavy civil capital projects in a field engineering, inspection, construction administration, or project engineering capacity. Experience serving as an owner/client representative, contractor representative, or working directly with public agencies such as LA Metro, Metrolink, Caltrans, or local agencies on active construction projects. Strong understanding of construction plans, specifications, contract documents, RFIs, submittals, field changes, change management, and construction documentation. Experience with Bluebeam required or strongly preferred. Procore, Unifier, or similar construction management software is preferred. Strong communication skills with the ability to interface with contractors, designers, agency staff, utility partners, third-party stakeholders, and client project management teams. Ability to manage multiple field locations and competing priorities in a fast-paced capital program environment. Valid driver's license required. Must be able to perform site visits in active construction environments.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $124000.00 - $156000.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
Compensation and Benefits: Base Salary - $60.00-$75.00/hour DOE. Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance - 100% employer-paid for employees; 50% for dependents. Retirement - 401K with employer match Paid Vacation Paid Holidays Paid Sick Time
