Job Title: EVS Technician
Job Description
The EVS Technician maintains a clean, safe, and sanitary environment throughout a large hospital facility. This role focuses on cleaning and disinfecting patient rooms, common areas, hallways, restrooms, and clinical spaces to support high standards of patient care and infection control. The position requires working in areas where patients receive treatment, including surgical and other sensitive clinical areas, and performing both general and terminal cleaning tasks.
Responsibilities
- Perform daily cleaning and disinfection of patient rooms, including beds, furniture, floors, and high-touch surfaces.
- Conduct general cleaning of common areas, hallways, waiting rooms, and staff areas to maintain a clean and orderly environment.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, dispensers, and floors, ensuring adequate stock of supplies.
- Carry out terminal cleaning of patient rooms and treatment areas after patient discharge or procedures, following established infection control protocols.
- Work in surgical and other clinical areas to perform thorough cleaning and disinfection in accordance with hospital standards and procedures.
- Use appropriate cleaning agents, disinfectants, tools, and equipment safely and correctly for each area and surface type.
- Follow hospital environmental services procedures, including proper waste disposal and handling of biohazardous materials as directed.
- Maintain housekeeping carts, supplies, and equipment in a clean, organized, and operational condition.
- Adhere to safety, infection control, and environmental services policies and guidelines at all times.
- Communicate effectively with staff and, when appropriate, patients and visitors to minimize disruption while performing cleaning tasks.
- Work assigned shifts, including variable days, weekends, and holidays, and complete all scheduled cleaning assignments on time.
- Report any maintenance issues, safety hazards, or supply shortages to the appropriate personnel promptly.
Essential Skills
- Experience in cleaning, housekeeping, custodial, or environmental services roles, preferably in a healthcare or hospital setting.
- Ability to perform thorough general and terminal cleaning in patient care and clinical environments.
- Comfort working in areas where patients receive treatment, including surgical and other sensitive clinical areas.
- Knowledge of basic cleaning techniques, including dusting, mopping, sweeping, and disinfecting various surfaces.
- Ability to follow detailed cleaning protocols, safety procedures, and infection control guidelines.
- Capability to use cleaning equipment and supplies safely and correctly.
- Reliability in working variable days and all assigned weekends and holidays on a 5:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. shift.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift as needed to perform cleaning duties throughout the shift.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a high standard of cleanliness.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Previous environmental services (EVS) experience in a hospital or medical facility is required.
- Familiarity with housekeeping practices in large facilities or institutional settings.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a larger environmental services team.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with frequent interaction with clinical staff.

Work Environment

The schedule consists of a 5:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. shift with variable days, and you will be expected to work all weekends and holidays as assigned. The role requires frequent walking, standing, bending, and lifting while using standard housekeeping and environmental services equipment such as mops, brooms, cleaning carts, and disinfecting tools. You will work in an environment with strict infection control and safety protocols, and you will interact regularly with clinical staff and other hospital personnel while maintaining a neat, professional appearance appropriate for a hospital setting.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $24.00 - $24.00/hr.
