The Metrology Technician I plays a pivotal role in supporting the calibration, maintenance, and repair of production, laboratory, and testing instruments to ensure compliance with regulatory standards. This role, under the guidance of senior staff, involves assisting with routine calibration tasks, troubleshooting, and documentation of results. Responsibilities
- Assist in performing routine calibrations of production, laboratory, and testing instruments according to established schedules and regulatory requirements under supervision.
- Help perform minor repairs on plant and laboratory equipment, escalating complex issues to senior technicians or external vendors as needed.
- Assist in maintaining accurate records of calibration activities, ensuring compliance with cGMP guidelines and internal procedures.
- Collaborate closely with senior metrology staff to troubleshoot instrumentation issues and support metrology activities across departments.
- Provide assistance in the temperature mapping program, including data collection and basic analysis under the guidance of senior technicians.
- Participate in ongoing training to develop skills in metrology practices, calibration procedures, and regulatory compliance.
- Ensure all assigned tasks are completed with attention to accuracy, compliance, and in a timely manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Metrology Supervisor.

The work environment involves computer keyboarding, monitor and mouse use, requiring forward reaching, grasping, finger, and wrist manipulations. Frequent standing, sitting, walking, talking, and hearing are required, with occasional reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Employees may need to lift/move up to 50 lbs occasionally and up to 25 lbs frequently. Specific vision abilities required include close vision and color vision. Eye protection must be worn.

Training and Development: Participate in ongoing training to develop skills in metrology practices, calibration procedures, and regulatory compliance. 7. Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties as assigned by the Metrology Supervisor. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: A Bachelors’ degree in such fields as engineering, science, computer engineering, etc. Or equivalent combination of education and experience. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: This position requires the individual be organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated and to apply advanced mathematical concepts. Ability to read, analyze, and understand scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents. Decision making, communication, planning and critical thinking skills are a must. Analytical ability / problem solving, critical thinking skills along with accuracy is required.
