Job Title: Shop Helper
Job Description
Join our dynamic team as a Driver/Shop Helper, where you will support both shop operations and daily deliveries. This role offers a mix of driving and hands-on shop assistance, perfect for someone who enjoys staying active and contributing wherever needed. You will typically make 2–3 runs per day, with the rest of your shift spent assisting in the shop. The routes are primarily day trips throughout the North Bay and Bay Area.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate 17-ft and 23-ft box trucks and flatbeds.
- Drive local and regional routes throughout the North Bay and Bay Area.
- Load and unload materials, including heavy lifting.
- Secure and tie down loads properly.
- Navigate truck scales and follow all required procedures.
- Perform daily vehicle inspections and ensure safe operation at all times.
- Maintain a clean and organized delivery vehicle.
- Practice defensive driving and follow safety guidelines.
- Assist with general shop and production work.
- Use hand tools and power tools safely.
- Perform grinding, deburring, and cleaning of metal parts.
- Support assembly and fabrication tasks as needed.
- Help keep the shop organized, clean, and running efficiently.
- Assist welders and technicians as a shop helper.
- Load and unload materials within the shop and yard.
- Take initiative to help where needed without constant supervision.
Essential Skills
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Experience driving box trucks and/or flatbeds.
- Comfortable with heavy lifting and physical work.
- Knowledge of safe load securing and tie-down procedures.
- Familiarity with truck scales and route navigation.
- Experience in a metal shop or production environment preferred.
- Mechanically inclined.
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, grinders.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to safety.
- Ability to take initiative and work independently or as part of a team.

Work Environment
This role involves working in a metal fabrication shop and on local delivery routes. It is physically active and includes lifting, loading, and unloading materials, using hand and power tools, and driving 17-ft and 23-ft trucks throughout the North Bay and Bay Area. Work is performed indoors, outdoors, and on the road, with exposure to noise, dust, and machinery. Safety, organization, and the ability to work independently are essential.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Helena, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
