Job Description
- We are seeking a skilled Rigger Specialist to join our team, focusing on the set up and repair of rigging both in the shop and on site with minimal supervision. This role involves ensuring safe rigging plans, machinery alignment, and heavy equipment movement control.
Responsibilities
- Set up and repair rigging in the shop and on site with minimal supervision.
- Accomplish the alignment and anchoring of machinery.
- Attach loads and control the movement of heavy equipment.
- Ensure the rigging plan is safe prior to execution.
- Perform other related tasks as assigned.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in rigging and hoisting equipment.
- Minimum of 2 years of previous shipyard or Navy experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working in diverse environments, including confined spaces and at heights of 20 feet or more.
- Physical capability to bend, twist, kneel, climb, and reach for 1-12 hours per day.
- Endurance to work in noise, fumes, dust, and inclement weather conditions.
- Ability to lift and carry 1-75lbs throughout the day.
- Capability to safely wear a respirator when needed.

Work Environment
- The work is based at various shipyards including NASSCO, BAE, Naval Base, CMSD, and NBSD. The standard shift is from 6 am to 2:30 pm, with flexibility for overtime if needed. Be prepared for 10-hour workdays when required. The environment demands resilience to diverse conditions including noise, dust, and varying weather conditions.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $30.00/hr.
