Job Description
This role supports a busy production environment by operating large CNC routing machines and assisting with material handling. The position involves working with sheet metal, lifting heavy materials, standing for extended periods, and maintaining a clean and organized work area while closely monitoring machine operations.
Responsibilities
- Operate large production machines, preferably CNC routing machines, according to established procedures and work orders.
- Use work orders to review job instructions, identify the correct job folder, and select the appropriate program for each task.
- Position the routing machine accurately at the corner of the material and start the programmed run.
- Remain near the machine while it runs to monitor performance, watch for errors, and prevent scrapping material.
- Work with and cut sheet metal safely and efficiently, following all handling and cutting guidelines.
- Lift and move heavy materials, including loads of up to 50 pounds, throughout the shift as needed.
- Stand for 8- to 10-hour shifts while performing machine operation and material handling tasks.
- Keep the work area clean, swept, and organized at all times, especially during longer machine runs.
- Stay productive during machine cycles by organizing materials, cleaning, and preparing for upcoming jobs.
- Follow all production, safety, and quality procedures to support consistent and accurate output.
- Previous machine operator experience in a production or warehouse environment.
- Ability to operate large production machinery, preferably CNC routing machines.
- Ability to read and follow work orders and job instructions accurately.
- Capability to work with and cut sheet metal safely.
- Ability to lift and handle materials up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Ability to stand and remain on feet for 8- to 10-hour shifts.
- Attention to detail to monitor machines, detect issues, and minimize material scrap.
- Strong work ethic and willingness to stay busy and engaged throughout the shift.
- Basic computer skills to navigate work orders and machine programs.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn new processes and equipment.
- Organizational skills to maintain a clean and orderly work area.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced production or warehouse setting.

You will work around large CNC routing machines and sheet metal cutting operations, spending most of the day on your feet during 8- to 10-hour shifts. The position involves frequent lifting of materials up to 50 pounds and regular sweeping and cleaning to keep the area safe and organized. Expect a busy, hands-on setting where staying active and attentive to machinery is essential.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
