Lab Technician
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Lab Technician to support high-volume laboratory testing in a regulated medical device and biotechnology environment. This role is ideal for someone with hands-on wet lab experience who enjoys executing standardized test methods, preparing solutions, operating laboratory equipment, and generating reliable data that supports product development and clinical applications.
The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, process-driven laboratory where accuracy, quality, and adherence to established procedures are critical to success.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform wet lab testing and laboratory experiments following established test methods, protocols, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Prepare buffers, reagents, and solutions using proper laboratory techniques and accurate measurements.
- Execute drift, linearity, and other performance evaluations on devices under controlled testing conditions.
- Operate devices and laboratory equipment within standardized testing workflows to ensure repeatable and reproducible results.
- Conduct visual inspections and imaging activities while meeting established throughput and quality requirements.
- Accurately document test procedures, observations, and results to maintain data integrity and traceability.
- Enter, organize, and maintain test data within structured databases, spreadsheets, and laboratory systems.
- Maintain laboratory equipment, supplies, and workspaces to ensure readiness, cleanliness, and compliance.
- Support validation, verification, and qualification testing activities as required.
- Follow laboratory safety procedures, quality requirements, and regulatory guidelines at all times.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, and Engineering to support testing objectives and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Participate in structured onboarding and training programs to develop proficiency across laboratory procedures and testing methods.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biomedical Sciences, or a related scientific discipline.
- Hands-on laboratory experience in a professional, research, quality control, manufacturing, or regulated laboratory environment.
- Experience preparing buffers, reagents, and laboratory solutions.
- Strong understanding of laboratory fundamentals, including accurate measurement techniques, proper glassware usage, and solution preparation.
- Ability to follow detailed SOPs, work instructions, and process-driven workflows.
- Strong documentation skills with a focus on accuracy, organization, and data integrity.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to perform repetitive tasks with a high degree of consistency.
- Strong commitment to laboratory safety and quality standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience performing drift, linearity, validation, verification, or qualification testing.
- Experience in a high-throughput, production-style, or quality control laboratory.
- Familiarity with GMP, ISO 13485, GLP, or other regulated laboratory environments.
- Experience with visual inspection, imaging systems, or component evaluation.
- Experience working with large datasets, electronic laboratory records, or structured data management systems.
- Exposure to medical device, biotechnology, diagnostics, or life sciences industries.
- Knowledge of statistical sampling or testing methodologies.
This is a Contract position based out of San Diego, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
