seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Environmental
Health & Safety (EHS) Coordinator to support safety operations across
multiple commercial construction projects.
This role will work closely with project teams, field
leadership, subcontractors, and clients to help maintain a safe, compliant, and
productive work environment. The ideal candidate is passionate about
construction safety, enjoys being present in the field, and is committed to
fostering a strong safety culture on every project.
Key Responsibilities
- Support implementation and enforcement of company safety policies, procedures, and site-specific safety plans.
- Conduct routine jobsite safety inspections and audits, documenting observations and helping track corrective actions.
- Assist with daily safety briefings, toolbox talks, stretch-and-flex programs, and pre-task planning meetings.
- Maintain safety documentation, including training records, incident reports, JHAs, permits, SDS logs, and inspection reports.
- Monitor jobsite activities to ensure compliance with OSHA, Cal/OSHA, and client-specific safety requirements.
- Support project teams with hazard identification, risk assessments, and accident prevention initiatives.
- Assist in investigating incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions and help implement corrective actions.
- Verify proper PPE usage and adherence to safe work practices by all personnel onsite.
- Coordinate and support new hire orientations and ongoing safety training programs.
- Track safety metrics and prepare reports for project leadership.
- Work collaboratively with superintendents, project managers, subcontractors, and client representatives to maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
- Promote a culture of accountability, awareness, and continuous improvement across all project teams.
Required Qualifications
- 2–5 years of experience in construction safety, field operations, or EHS coordination.
- OSHA 30 certification required.
- Working knowledge of OSHA and Cal/OSHA regulations.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to build relationships and effectively communicate with field personnel, subcontractors, and clients.
- Comfortable working in active construction environments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Preferred Qualifications
- CHST certification or desire to pursue professional safety certifications.
- Experience supporting commercial, healthcare, laboratory, life sciences, technology, advanced manufacturing, or mission-critical construction projects.
- Familiarity with digital safety management platforms and reporting systems.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Jose, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $80.00 - $90.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
