Job Title: Electrical Engineer (Sustaining)


Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer (Sustaining) to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing obsolescent components, providing technical support, troubleshooting issues, and conducting root cause analyses. You will work closely with various teams to ensure product reliability, compliance, and continuous improvement.


Responsibilities

  • Manage the replacement, qualification, and documentation of obsolescent components.
  • Provide expert technical assistance to address technical questions from strategic volume suppliers to meet product launch schedules.
  • Investigate and resolve complex technical issues related to control electronics, both independently and in collaboration with other teams.
  • Conduct thorough root cause analyses of electronic failures and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Identify opportunities for product enhancement, reliability improvement, and cost optimization, and lead efforts to implement these improvements.
  • Generate analog and digital designs, with preferred experience in Orcad/Allegro, PCAD, and Altium.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date technical documentation, including specifications, design changes, and troubleshooting guidelines.
  • Collaborate with development engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance teams to ensure seamless product transitions and successful new product introductions.
  • Manage the implementation of design changes, firmware updates, and other modifications while adhering to quality and regulatory standards.
  • Ensure all control electronics products comply with relevant industry standards and regulations, participating in audits and reviews as needed.

Essential Skills

  • Degree in electrical engineering, electronics, or a related field.
  • 5 years of proven experience in sustaining engineering, preferably in complex electronic products.
  • Deep understanding of electronic control systems, I/O interfaces, and related semiconductor processing technologies.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and resolving electronic issues at both system and component levels.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations governing semiconductor electronic control equipment.
  • Experience with root cause analysis methodologies, such as Six Sigma or 8D.

  • Strong problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently.

Work Environment

The work environment involves collaboration with various teams including development engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance. You will be working on both analog and digital designs, using tools such as Orcad/Allegro, PCAD, and Altium. The role requires strict adherence to quality and regulatory standards and may involve participating in audits and reviews to ensure compliance.


Logistics:

Term: Direct Placement / FTE

Compensation:

Up to $125,000/yr (negotiable)

+ 20% annual stock (~$25,000)

+ ~10% - 20% profit sharing / bonus (approx. $10,000 - $25,000)

= Up to $175,000 total comp
