Job Description
This role focuses on precision CNC machining for aerospace and defense applications, producing high-quality components to exact specifications while following established processes and safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Operate CNC lathes and mills to machine aerospace and defense components to precise tolerances.
- Set up CNC equipment, including tooling, workholding, and program loading, to support efficient and accurate production.
- Run both vertical and horizontal CNC machining operations, monitoring machine performance and part quality throughout each job.
- Interpret and follow work instructions, setup sheets, and machining programs to complete production orders correctly and on time.
- Inspect parts during and after machining to verify dimensions and quality, making necessary adjustments to maintain accuracy.
- Troubleshoot basic machining issues, such as tool wear, dimensional deviations, and surface finish concerns, and adjust machine settings as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, following all shop safety procedures and guidelines.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to prioritize work, resolve production challenges, and meet delivery schedules.
- Document production information as required, including job completions and any issues encountered during machining.
- Hands-on experience operating CNC lathes and CNC mills in a production environment.
- Proficiency in CNC setup, including tooling, offsets, and workholding for both lathes and mills.
- Experience with CNC machining for aerospace, defense, or other high-precision industries.
- Ability to operate and set up horizontal CNC machining equipment.
- Familiarity with Haas CNC machines.
- Familiarity with Fadal CNC machines.
- Familiarity with Matsura CNC machines.
- Ability to read and follow machining instructions and programs accurately.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, precise parts.
- Ability to work effectively on multiple shifts as scheduled.
- Experience working with a variety of metals and materials commonly used in aerospace and defense machining.
- Comfort working with different CNC control interfaces and adapting to various machine brands.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of machining principles and best practices.
- Good problem-solving skills to identify and correct machining issues quickly.
- Effective communication skills to coordinate with team members and support continuous improvement.

Work Environment
This position is based in a manufacturing shop environment focused on CNC machining for aerospace and defense. The facility uses CNC lathes and CNC mills, including horizontal machining centers, with equipment from brands such as Haas, Fadal, and Matsura. Work is organized in multiple shifts, with a first shift typically running from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and a second shift beginning around 2:15 p.m. or 3:15 p.m., depending on scheduling needs. The environment is production-oriented, with machine noise, moving equipment, and a focus on safety procedures. Team members are expected to follow standard shop practices and wear appropriate work attire and personal protective equipment suitable for a machining and manufacturing setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Valencia, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $48.00/hr.
