Hiring for an Aerospace Quality Engineer in Cheshire, CT!
Job Description
Join a leading organization in the aerospace and defense industry as a Quality Engineer. You will be responsible for overseeing all quality-related activities, ensuring compliance with Quality Management Systems, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. Responsibilities
- Ensure processes and procedures defined in the Quality Management System (QMS) are understood and followed to maintain Quality System Approvals.
- Lead and support internal and external audit activities, including System, NADCAP, and Customer audits, to meet requirements and maintain approvals.
- Ensure export compliance by understanding and controlling Export Control requirements.
- Drive the robust Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) process with real-time daily stand-up Quality reviews and non-conformance tracking.
- Support process improvements with on-time reporting of Quality Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and drive year-over-year improvements in quality performance.
- Manage all aspects of the Quality Planning, New Product Introduction (NPI), and First Article Inspection (FAI) processes.
- Review customer purchase orders, requirements, and drawing specifications.
- Conduct ballooned drawings and associated document reviews.
- Perform gaging reviews and manage special gaging requirements.
- Conduct Gage R&R Studies and develop Statistical Process Control (SPC) Plans.
- Create Inspection Management System (IMS) and FAI templates in line with customer requirements.
- Develop and validate Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) Programs.
- Secure special process approvals and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT).
- Coordinate customer submittals and approvals, utilizing customer web portals.
- Attend customer training and attain certifications for self-release programs.
- Utilize statistical software to establish, analyze, and address quality process control data.
- Lead regular SPC review sessions with engineering and develop action plans for continuous improvement.
- Participate actively in the Company Continuous Improvement Program and Rapid Improvement Events (RIEs).
- Perform other related duties or responsibilities as required.
- Participate in training as needed.
- Domestic travel up to 5-10% may be required.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, aerospace preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
- Working knowledge of inspection techniques and quality engineering practices.
- Understanding of data collection and Statistical Process Control (SPC) techniques.
- Good communication skills, capable of effectively communicating with engineers, shop personnel, management staff, suppliers, and customers.
- Must be a “U.S. Person” as defined by the US Government and able to work without restriction with ITAR-related data.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, aerospace preferred.
- Experience with root cause analysis and supplier quality management.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 standards.
- Experience with gage R&R, NPI, QMS, and airfoil manufacturing.
- Pratt experience is highly preferred.
- Experience with stators, vanes, or airfoils is a plus.
