Job Title: Assembler
Job Description
The Assembler plays a key role in moving products through the production process in a high-volume manufacturing environment. You perform packaging and assembly tasks on an assembly line, support different production lines as needed, and help ensure products meet production standards. This role requires standing for the entire shift, working efficiently in a fast-paced setting, and collaborating closely with a team to complete each stage of the assembly process.
Responsibilities
- Move products efficiently through the production process while maintaining established production standards.
- Perform assembly tasks on an assembly line, completing your assigned operation and passing products to the next team member.
- Carry out packaging tasks, including placing finished products into boxes, preparing them for shipping, and stacking them on skids.
- Support different production lines as needed, adapting to varying products and assembly steps.
- Use hand tools and basic mechanical skills to assemble components such as slides, shelves, and cabinet parts.
- Load and move materials within the production area to keep lines supplied and running smoothly.
- Assist with packing and shipping activities, including labeling, wrapping, and preparing products for transport.
- Work effectively in a team environment with 5–15 people on a line to complete all steps of the assembly process.
- Maintain a high level of productivity and accuracy in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing setting.
- Stand on your feet for up to 10 hours per shift and lift up to 50 lbs as needed throughout the day.
- Follow all workplace safety procedures and guidelines while handling materials and operating equipment.
- Contribute to a clean, organized, and efficient production area by following facility standards and processes.
Essential Skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform basic assembly tasks.
- Capability to lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.
- Comfort standing on your feet for up to 10 hours per shift.
- Experience working in a manufacturing or production setting.

- Basic skills using hand tools for assembly and packaging.
- Reliability and consistency in meeting production and quality standards.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with material handling, order picking, and loading in a production or warehouse environment.
- Exposure to forklift operations is beneficial.
- Strong attention to detail when completing repetitive tasks on an assembly line.
- Willingness to learn different operations and support multiple production lines.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a high-volume facility.

Work Environment
You work in a large manufacturing facility with more than 120 people on site, focused on producing steel cabinets and containers. The environment is assembly-line based, with typically 5–15 people working together on a single product line, each person completing one operation before passing the product to the next stage. Tasks may include installing slides for shelves, installing shelves into slides, placing products into boxes, attaching shipping slips, stacking boxes on skids, and wrapping finished products for shipment. The setting is fast paced and high volume, requiring you to stand for up to 10 hours per shift and lift up to 50 lbs as needed. You work around standard manufacturing equipment and hand tools in a structured, team-oriented environment.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Durham, CT.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
