Job Title: Structured Cabling Technician – WAP Installation

Location: Fairfield University (On-Site)

Job Type: Contract (Project-Based)

Shift: First Shift (Daytime Hours)

Openings: Multiple Positions Available

Job Summary:

TEKsystems' client has been awarded a large-scale Wireless Access Point (WAP) installation project at Fairfield University, and we are seeking Structured Cabling Technicians to support the deployment. This is a great opportunity for individuals with commercial cabling experience to contribute to a high-visibility project in a university setting. All experience levels are welcome—from entry-level to expert.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install and mount Wireless Access Points (WAPs) across campus buildings.
  • Pull, route, terminate, and label Cat6/Cat6A cabling.
  • Test and troubleshoot network cabling using standard tools.
  • Read and follow floor plans and installation diagrams.
  • Maintain safety and quality standards on-site.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet project goals.

Qualifications:

  • Commercial cabling experience is required (any level).
  • Willingness to work in ceiling spaces, on ladders, and lifts.
  • Must have basic hand tools and PPE; specialty tools provided.
  • Ability to pass a background check for campus access.
  • No certifications required; however, a Connecticut Low Voltage License is a plus.
