Position Summary
The Vice President, Health Care Benefits (HCB) Controller is responsible for managing the accounting functions, financial reporting, cash flow, audits and operational processes for the HCB segment. The Vice President, HCB Controller will partner with the HCB Leadership Team to provide insights into business performance that drive operational efficiency and an improved control environment.
The Vice President, HCB Controller will also be responsible for developing and executing an operational strategy for the HCB Controller's team and manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial results

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field (master's preferred)
The typical base pay range for this role is:
$220,000.00 - $320,000.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company's equity award program.

The Vice President, HCB Controller will also be responsible for developing and executing an operational strategy for the HCB Controller's team and manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial results
Responsibilities:
Oversees the preparation of the segment's financial statements and communicates monthly results to segment leadership
Oversees the preparation of the segment's balance sheet, working capital and performs analytical review of key drivers and variances vs. expectations
Assists with management of accounting, auditing and budgeting within the organization
Utilizes financial and accounting data to develop Aetna's strategy, minimize our risks, and forecast for opportunities
Assists with preparations of various audits
Ensures financial results are materially accurate and the control environment is operating effectively
Ensures compliance with and prepares reports according to applicable government regulations
Uses accounting software to maintain records and prepare reports
Delegates accounting tasks to accounting staff
Collaborates in a highly matrixed organization
Travel -10%
Required Qualifications
15+ years' experience in accounting
CPA required
Public Accounting experience
Managing large teams
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Highly skilled in accounting and financial processes
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Detail-oriented and highly organized
Skilled in time management and the ability to prioritize tasks
Excellent critical thinking skills
Solid understanding of GAAP and insurance accounting
Previous experience with managing Sarbanes Oxley processes
Expertise in operational accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
Proven leadership skills with experience managing and developing teams
Preferred Qualifications
Healthcare/Insurance industry experience
Knowledge of financial systems and reporting tools
Hybrid in office Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday - Preferred Location: Hartford ,CT or Woonsocket, RI
