Job Title: Material Handler
Job Description
The Material Handler supports aerospace manufacturing operations by accurately handling materials, verifying shipping documentation, and moving product safely throughout the facility. This role uses a computer to process orders and documentation, provides courteous customer service to internal and external people, and ensures that materials are kitted, packed, and staged according to work orders and shipping instructions.
Responsibilities
- Verify paperwork, work orders, and shipping instructions for accuracy before processing materials.
- Kit materials according to work orders and production requirements to support manufacturing operations.
- Move product and materials safely within the facility using appropriate material handling practices.
- Perform picking and packing of parts and products for shipment or internal use.
- Palletize, load, and unload materials, boxes, and shipments in a safe and efficient manner.
- Support shipping and receiving activities, including checking in materials and preparing outgoing shipments.
- Package and repackage materials and products to meet shipping and quality requirements.
- Use a computer to enter, update, and review data related to orders, inventory, and shipments.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with team members and other departments to resolve issues and coordinate material flow.
- Provide helpful and courteous customer service to internal stakeholders and external partners.
- Perform general labor tasks related to material handling as needed to support daily operations.
- Follow all safety guidelines and procedures while handling, moving, and storing materials.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency using a computer for basic data entry and review.
- Ability to read and write in English to understand work orders, shipping instructions, and documentation.
- Strong verbal communication skills to interact effectively with team members and other departments.
- Customer service skills to support internal and external stakeholders professionally.
- Experience with material handling tasks such as picking, packing, loading, and unloading.
- Ability to palletize, pack boxes, and prepare shipments accurately.
- Capability to perform shipping and receiving activities in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
- Ability to stand for the duration of the shift as required by the role.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with kitting materials for production or assembly processes.
- Background in general labor or warehouse operations.
- Familiarity with packaging standards and practices.
- Exposure to shipping, receiving, and inventory-related processes in a manufacturing setting.
- Interest in gaining experience in aerospace material handling environments.

Work Environment
The role is based within a large aerospace manufacturing facility that operates with structured processes and a focus on safety and quality. You will work in a fast-paced production and warehouse environment, frequently on your feet and may be required to stand for the entire shift. The position involves regular interaction with materials, pallets, boxes, and shipping equipment, and requires adherence to all site safety procedures and operational guidelines.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Middletown, CT.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.25 - $18.25/hr.
