Civil Engineer (Land Development & Site Design)

What You’ll Do
- Lead and contribute to the design of site development and land development projects
- Perform and review complex engineering calculations and produce clear, well-structured design documentation
- Develop site plans, grading plans, and construction documents using AutoCAD and Civil 3D
- Design and analyze drainage systems, utilities, grading, and stormwater management solutions
- Coordinate with internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and drafters, reviewing work for accuracy and quality
- Support project leadership in defining scope, schedules, and budgets
- Participate in client meetings and presentations, communicating technical concepts clearly and confidently
- Ensure all designs meet applicable codes, standards, and project requirements
- Contribute to a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement
What We’re Looking For
✅ Experience & Credentials
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
- 4+ years of experience in civil/site development engineering
- FE/EIT required; Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred
✅ Technical Expertise
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D
- Hands-on experience with grading, drainage, utilities, and stormwater design
- Proven ability to prepare complete site plans and construction documents
- Skilled in performing and reviewing advanced engineering calculations
✅ Leadership & Collaboration
- Ability to lead project tasks and coordinate across multidisciplinary teams
- Experience mentoring or reviewing work of junior staff
- Strong communication skills for client interaction and presentations

This hybrid position is based in our Plainville or Poughkeepsie office, where you’ll work alongside a talented team of engineers, designers, and project managers. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Plainville, CT.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $35.00 - $65.00/hr.
