Job Title: Registered Nurse
Job Description
This role offers an experienced Registered Nurse the opportunity to provide high-quality patient care in an outpatient cardiology office by triaging patient calls, accurately documenting in medical records, and providing clinical oversight and support to medical assistants. The nurse will use strong clinical judgment, effective communication, and teamwork skills to ensure safe, efficient, and compassionate care for patients.
Responsibilities
- Triage incoming patient calls by assessing symptoms, determining acuity, and providing appropriate clinical guidance or escalation.
- Document patient interactions, assessments, and care plans accurately and thoroughly in the electronic medical record system.
- Provide oversight and clinical guidance to medical assistants to ensure safe and effective patient care and workflow.
- Collaborate closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care within the cardiology practice.
- Use clinical protocols and professional judgment to prioritize patient needs and ensure timely follow-up.
- Support patients and their families by providing education on cardiology-related conditions, medications, and follow-up care.
- Maintain compliance with all clinical policies, procedures, and regulatory standards related to nursing practice.
- Contribute to a positive team environment by demonstrating professionalism, reliability, and strong communication skills.
- Utilize Epic or other electronic health record tools efficiently to support accurate charting and coordinated care.
- Participate in ongoing quality improvement efforts within the cardiology office to enhance patient safety and outcomes.
Essential Skills
- Active and current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Connecticut.
- Experience working in a healthcare setting, with 1+ year of experience in a hospital setting preferred.
- Proficiency in patient triage, including assessing symptoms and determining appropriate care pathways.
- Strong skills in medical record documentation and use of electronic health records, preferably Epic.
- Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification or the ability to obtain it as required.
- Ability to provide clinical oversight and support to medical assistants in a busy outpatient environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team player in a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Solid understanding of cardiology-related patient care or a strong interest in learning this specialty.
- Excellent communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Prior experience in a cardiology or other specialty outpatient clinic is beneficial.
- Comfort working with electronic health record systems, particularly Epic.
- Strong patient education skills, especially in explaining cardiac conditions, treatments, and follow-up care.
- Ability to remain calm and professional when handling high call volumes or urgent patient needs.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with nursing best practices.
Work Environment
This position is based in an outpatient cardiology office, providing a structured and collaborative clinical environment focused on cardiovascular care. The schedule runs Monday through Friday, approximately 7:45 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., offering consistent daytime hours. The nurse works closely with physicians, medical assistants, and other clinical staff, using Epic or similar electronic medical record systems to support coordinated care. The setting emphasizes teamwork, patient-centered service, and adherence to clinical protocols in a professional medical office environment.

Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wallingford, CT.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $33.00 - $45.00/hr.
