- Experience working on horizontal or civil construction projects.
- background in construction, with a focus on field work rather than office-based engineering.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
- Ability to accurately document field conditions, maintain daily reports, and track project schedule progress.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with design divisions, contractors, and subcontractors.
- Good attitude and willingness to work fully from the field and out of a vehicle while traveling the local market.

- Basic estimating skills to support project planning and evaluation.
- Experience with municipal water, wastewater, or wet utility construction projects.
- Prior work as a construction inspector on civil or utility infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with wastewater systems, wet utilities, and related construction methods.
- Ability to build and maintain professional relationships across multidisciplinary project teams.
- Comfort working with limited direct supervision while maintaining high standards of quality and documentation.
The Construction Inspector works entirely in the field, traveling daily throughout the DC, Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) area to visit homes and construction sites. The role is part of a larger team of approximately 30 inspectors supporting a long-term municipal water and wastewater program. The inspector reports to a program office at Blue Plains one to two times per week for coordination, while spending the remainder of the time on-site or on the road. There is no requirement to report to a traditional corporate office. Work is performed primarily from a vehicle and at active construction sites, requiring comfort with outdoor conditions, variable weather, and interaction with contractors and homeowners. The position offers the opportunity to contribute to a major multi-year infrastructure program within a collaborative, field-focused team environment.
