In this role, you will develop precise 2D and 3D drawings, installation schematics, and customer-specific designs that integrate mechanical products into a wide range of equipment and environments. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, maintain high technical standards, and manage multiple design projects in a fast-paced manufacturing or engineering setting.
Responsibilities
- Create accurate 2D drawings, 3D models, and installation layouts using CAD tools such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor, and Revit.
- Design custom mounting and integration solutions tailored to specific customer applications and equipment.
- Develop detailed fabrication and assembly drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and supporting technical documentation.
- Produce technical drawings, installation layouts, assembly drawings, and fabrication documentation that meet engineering and manufacturing standards.
- Collaborate with engineering, sales, customers, and operations teams to gather design requirements and ensure alignment with project objectives.
- Review specifications and ensure all designs comply with mechanical, GD&T, and manufacturability standards.
- Maintain drawing revisions, manage revision control, and support engineering changes and new product introductions.
- Assist with troubleshooting installation and manufacturability issues, providing design updates and recommendations as needed.
- Interpret engineering specifications and manage multiple design projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
- Support documentation related to sheet metal components, mechanical systems, and new product development initiatives.
- At least 3 years of CAD design and drafting experience in manufacturing or engineering environments.
- Proficiency with CAD software, including SolidWorks and AutoCAD, with experience in 3D modeling and mechanical design.
- Strong knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and mechanical systems.
- Proven ability to create technical drawings, installation layouts, assembly drawings, and fabrication documentation.
- Ability to interpret engineering specifications and standards and translate them into clear, manufacturable designs.
- Experience developing fabrication and assembly drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and technical documentation.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects concurrently in a fast-paced environment.
- Relevant experience in mechanical engineering, drafting, or mechanical design, including work with sheet metal components.
- Bachelor’s degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Experience with electrical schematics and proficiency in interpreting and incorporating them into mechanical designs.
- Background in industrial, heavy equipment, or OEM environments.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and revision control processes.
- Experience with Revit or other advanced CAD tools for 3D modeling and design.
- Exposure to new product development processes and cross-functional engineering collaboration.
- Ability to document and support engineering changes and new product introductions.
This role operates in a professional engineering and manufacturing-focused environment where you will work primarily with CAD and documentation tools such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor, Revit, and ERP systems. You will collaborate closely with engineering, sales, operations, and customers, requiring clear communication and teamwork. The pace is dynamic and project-driven, with multiple concurrent design efforts and ongoing new product development. Work is typically performed in an office or design lab setting with regular interaction with production and operations teams to ensure designs are practical and manufacturable.
