This role serves as the primary technical liaison between engineering teams, project management, external partners, and customers, integrating engineering, scheduling, and procurement requirements in line with contractual obligations. The position requires deep expertise in gas turbine and auxiliary systems and the ability to coordinate mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation and controls (I&C) disciplines in a fast-paced project environment.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact for EPC partners, owner’s engineers, and customers, interpreting and integrating design requirements in accordance with contract specifications.
- Lead the planning, setup, and monitoring of project engineering systems, including project kick‑offs, master document lists (MDLs), division of responsibility (DOR) matrices, contract deviation lists, and inter‑discipline workflows.
- Coordinate engineering activities across mechanical, electrical, I&C, and other disciplines, resolving cross‑disciplinary issues to maintain technical consistency and schedule adherence.
- Translate contract requirements and scope of work into clear, actionable engineering deliverables for discipline teams, ensuring alignment with contractual obligations and project objectives.
- Monitor engineering schedules, budgets, and estimates through project completion, conducting periodic reviews and expediting activities to keep deliverables on track.
- Prepare and present technical delivery status reports, highlighting progress, risks, and mitigation actions to project stakeholders.
- Support Project Managers and Lead Project Engineers in tracking and assessing design changes, engineering change notices (ECNs), and contract deviations, including evaluation of technical and commercial impacts.
- Coordinate regularly with international affiliated companies to support successful engineering execution and on-time project delivery.
- Review and comment on project documents and drawings to ensure compliance with technical requirements and contractual document flow processes.
- Support equipment specification, bid evaluation, vendor selection, and capacity assessments for equipment sourced for gas turbine and combined cycle projects.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of applicable engineering codes and standards for combustion turbines and auxiliary systems, including ANSI, AWS, API, ASTM, NFPA, and NEC, and ensure their application in project designs.
- Collaborate with Global Sourcing, Quality Assurance, and Project Management to coordinate vendors and subcontractors throughout project execution.
- Support Application Engineering in reviewing and evaluating customer specifications in coordination with the parent organization or global engineering teams, as required.
- Track and resolve open technical and contractual items through project completion and into the warranty period, ensuring timely closure of outstanding issues.
- Demonstrate and promote core competencies such as being action oriented, driving change, maintaining a strong customer focus, and taking ownership while developing self and others.
- Demonstrate strong multitasking abilities and facilitate effective multidisciplinary communication across engineering, sourcing, and project teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
- 10–20 years of directly related technical experience in engineering or power project execution.
- Extensive experience with gas turbine systems and gas turbine auxiliaries, including mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation and controls (I&C) aspects.
- Proven ability to lead engineering and design teams on complex power projects, integrating engineering, scheduling, and purchasing activities.
- Strong project management capabilities, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and progress monitoring.
- Proficiency with project management and office tools, including MS Project, Excel, Word, Outlook, and Visio.
- Ability to interpret and analyze complex technical instructions presented in mathematical, diagrammatic, or abstract form and apply them to practical engineering problems.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interface effectively with customers, EPC partners, owner’s engineers, and internal multidisciplinary teams.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced project environment.
- Master’s degree in Engineering is preferred.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is preferred.
- Familiarity with steam turbine, generator, and balance of plant (BOP) design and construction is desirable.
- Experience with SP3D and other 3D design tools such as SmartPlant or PDMS.
- Knowledge of ISO procedures and OSHA safety requirements.
- International business experience, including collaboration with global teams and affiliated companies.
- Experience supporting equipment specification, bid evaluation, vendor selection, and vendor capacity assessment for power projects.
- Knowledge of applicable engineering codes and standards for combustion turbines and auxiliary systems, including ANSI, AWS, API, ASTM, NFPA, and NEC.
- Experience preparing technical delivery status reports and assessing the impact of engineering change notices (ECNs) and contract deviations.
The role operates in a project-driven engineering environment focused on gas turbine and combined cycle power projects, involving close collaboration with multidisciplinary engineering teams, project management, sourcing, quality, and external partners. Work typically combines office-based tasks such as design coordination, document review, and use of project management and 3D design tools with regular interaction with international affiliates, vendors, and EPC partners. The position requires frequent use of software such as MS Project, Excel, Word, Outlook, Visio, and 3D design platforms like SP3D or SmartPlant/PDMS. The environment emphasizes adherence to ISO procedures, OSHA safety requirements, and industry codes and standards, with a culture that values action orientation, customer focus, change leadership, ownership, and continuous development of self and others.
