Position Overview
The Mortgage Loan Processor is responsible for guiding first mortgage loan applications from initial application through loan closing. This role works closely with members, underwriters, Realtors, and internal teams to ensure loans are processed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Process first mortgage loan applications from application through closing.
- Review loan applications received through the Automated Underwriting System (AUS).
- Analyze loan documentation for completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
- Identify and clear loan conditions and documentation requirements.
- Obtain and verify employment, income, asset, and credit documentation.
- Review appraisal reports to ensure compliance with investor and company guidelines.
- Maintain ongoing communication with borrowers, Realtors, and other stakeholders regarding loan status.
- Prepare required disclosures and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Resolve processing issues and follow up on outstanding documentation.
- Provide exceptional customer service through phone and occasional direct member interaction.
Required Qualifications
Trainee Level
- Minimum 1 year of mortgage loan processing, mortgage closing, equity loan processing, or related financial services experience.
- Basic knowledge of mortgage lending regulations, requirements, and procedures.
- Understanding of Conventional and FHA loan programs.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple loan files while maintaining accuracy.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of mortgage processing experience.
- Experience processing a nationwide variety of mortgage loans, not just state-specific loan products.
- Working knowledge of Conventional, FHA, and VA loan programs.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Coursework in mortgage lending, finance, business, or a related field.
- Knowledge of credit union practices and financial products.

Experience with the following systems is highly preferred:
- Unifi – Mortgage Loan Processing System
- AUS (Automated Underwriting System) – Loan underwriting and decisioning
- UAD – Mortgage documentation and account review systems

Additional Information
- This role is primarily focused on processing FHA and Conventional mortgage loans.
- Candidates should be comfortable reviewing and interpreting loan documents and financial documentation.
- Limited customer interaction is required, but candidates should be comfortable speaking with borrowers regarding loan conditions and status updates.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are critical to success.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.44 - $18.44/hr.
