Job Description

We are seeking a hands-on mechanical engineer with approximately three years of practical experience in manufacturing environments such as those at Toyota, Whirlpool, or Honda. This role involves being actively engaged on the floor, solving real problems, and contributing to the development of better processes daily. The ideal candidate will have a background working with their hands, possibly in trades or agriculture, and will have pursued further education to enhance their skills in math, statistics, and engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Spend your first two weeks learning the floor, reading logs, and observing processes.
  • Work closely with a tight-knit, respectful team to support and lead process improvement projects.
  • Analyze shop conditions and standardized work.
  • Design, implement, and improve automation and mechanical systems.
  • Collaborate with operators and engineers to solve problems in real time.
  • Occasionally travel to other sites (once every two months).
  • Approximately 10 hours of overtime each week.

Essential Skills

  • Mechanical Engineering background with Manufacturing Engineering experience being a plus.
  • Strong math and statistics skills.
  • Experience in environments like Toyota, Whirlpool, or Honda.
  • Familiarity with Fanuc robotics and PLCs.
  • Active problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable with standardized work and shop floor analysis.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Background in trades or agriculture.
  • Experience with video observation tools.
  • Exposure to the Toyota Production System (TPS), without claiming expertise.

Work Environment

You will report to an experienced leader who values humility, curiosity, and respect. The team is tight-knit, and supportive, fostering a collaborative environment where many have known each other for years. You will be paired with a mentor and given ownership of a project early on, providing the opportunity to grow rapidly if you are willing to get involved and work hands-on. Expect occasional travel to other sites, with approximately 10 hours of overtime weekly.

Compensation:$85000
