Job Description
The Transmission Line Inspector plans, coordinates, monitors, and inspects transmission line construction activities performed by contract personnel on transmission capital projects. This role ensures that all work meets established construction standards and specifications, supports project schedules, and promotes a strong safety culture while collaborating closely with multiple internal groups and providing regular feedback on contractor performance.
Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and monitor transmission line construction activities performed by contract personnel on transmission capital projects.
- Attend project management meetings to obtain detailed information and scope for projects assigned to contract personnel.
- Work closely with Line Construction Field Managers, Line Design, Transmission Maintenance Centers, System Operations, Generation, Distribution, Procurement, and Project Management teams to ensure projects are completed on schedule.
- Inspect construction activities to verify that all work meets established construction standards, specifications, and procedures.
- Provide regular feedback and updates to area Line Construction Field Managers regarding work status and the job performance of contract personnel.
- Perform Quality Value Assessments (QVA) on contract personnel to ensure quality performance and adherence to contract requirements.
- Submit accurate and timely Daily Logs via Mobi to document work progress, quality, and compliance.
- Review and interpret plans, specifications, single-line diagrams, clearance points, and other technical documents to confirm proper execution of construction work.
- Ensure that all construction activities follow the Georgia Integrated Transmission System Electric Operating Procedures (Redbook) and related guidelines.
- Promote and enforce safety excellence by acting as a safety champion and ensuring safe work practices at all times.
- Exercise sound judgment within the scope of responsibility to address issues, resolve problems, and escalate concerns when necessary.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal stakeholders and contract personnel.
- Hold contract personnel accountable to the terms and expectations outlined in the contract, without providing direct work direction.
- Manage multiple projects and conflicting deadlines, maintaining clear priorities and consistent follow-through.
- Use electronic devices and software tools daily to complete inspections, documentation, communication, and reporting.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 10 years of transmission line construction experience.
- Extensive knowledge of transmission line construction practices, techniques, and equipment.
- In-depth knowledge of the Georgia Integrated Transmission System Electric Operating Procedures (Redbook), single-line diagrams, and clearance points.
- Demonstrated safety champion mindset with a strong focus on safety excellence.
- Ability to read, comprehend, interpret, and communicate plans, specifications, and technical documents.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Comfort using electronic devices daily to perform job duties, including documentation and reporting.
- Ability to make sound decisions within the scope of this role’s responsibilities.
- Solid understanding of energized work practices.
- Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to develop and use computer skills with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and other applications.

This is a full-time consulting role working onsite in the field, overseeing contract crews at various transmission construction locations throughout the state. The position involves regular travel to project sites, frequent outdoor work, and exposure to active construction environments and high-voltage transmission infrastructure. The role relies heavily on the use of electronic devices and mobile applications, such as Mobi, for daily logs and reporting, as well as standard office software including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word. The work schedule follows project needs and may require flexibility to address field conditions, site access, and coordination with multiple internal and external teams. Appropriate field attire and personal protective equipment are required to safely perform onsite inspections and oversight activities.

This is a Contract position based out of Forest Park, GA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $60.00 - $65.00/hr.
