Forklift Operator
Job Description
This role operates forklifts and related material handling equipment to safely and accurately store, ship, and receive products in a high-volume warehouse environment. You will ensure products are handled without damage, verify counts and production code dates, and support multiple locations as business needs change. The position offers structured training, shift differentials, and a performance-based incentive program that rewards strong productivity.
Responsibilities
- Operate sit-down and stand-up forklifts, reach trucks, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
- Store, move, load, and unload products in accordance with company safety, security, and productivity standards.
- Accurately check, count, and verify all products handled, ensuring quantities match shipping and receiving documentation.
- Inspect products for damage or infestation and report any issues immediately to maintain product quality.
- Record and verify production code dates accurately to ensure proper product rotation and traceability.
- Support shipping and receiving operations by loading and unloading trailers, containers, and trucks as required.
- Use RF scanners and RF scan guns to perform order picking, inventory tracking, and warehouse transactions.
- Pick and pack orders accurately, including order picking, packaging, and preparing shipments for outbound delivery.
- Assist with general warehouse labor tasks such as palletizing, staging, and organizing inventory.
- Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work area in the warehouse at all times.
- Follow all safety procedures and guidelines, including proper lifting techniques and safe forklift operation practices.
- Work at a fast pace to meet productivity goals and participate in the incentive program by consistently achieving high performance.
- Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively to support smooth warehouse operations.
- Demonstrate prompt and regular attendance and be flexible in working different shifts and overtime as needed.
- Support various warehouse locations based on business needs and operational requirements.
- Participate in orientation and training, including an initial training period on a designated schedule before moving to the assigned shift.
Essential Skills
- Ability to read and write in English to follow instructions, safety guidelines, and documentation.
- Strong team player with the ability to work well with others in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
- Good communication skills to coordinate tasks and report issues clearly and promptly.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and maintain orderly storage of products.
- Previous forklift experience preferred, with sit-down and stand-up forklift operation experience considered an advantage.
- Forklift certification preferred, demonstrating knowledge of safe forklift operation.
- Ability to remain self-motivated and work with minimal supervision while maintaining high productivity.
- Willingness to work hard and consistently meet performance and productivity expectations.
- Flexibility in work hours and willingness to work overtime as needed to support business demands.
- Ability to stand for extended periods (such as 8-hour shifts) and perform general production and warehouse tasks.
- Ability to lift or transfer up to approximately 50–30 pounds constantly, higher weights occasionally, and heavier items rarely, as required by warehouse operations.
- Ability to lift at least 45 pounds as part of general production and warehouse duties.
- Ability to pass a experience check, physical, and drug screen in accordance with company policy.
- Prompt and regular attendance, with reliability in reporting to scheduled shifts.
