Job Title: Shipping and Receiving Worker
Job Description
This role supports warehouse operations with a strong focus on freight coordination, shipping, receiving, and inventory control. You cross-train across multiple departments and play a key role in ensuring materials and finished goods move efficiently, accurately, and safely through the facility while delivering excellent service to internal and external customers.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate inbound and outbound freight shipments through parcel, less-than-truckload (LTL), and truckload carriers.
- Schedule pickups and deliveries, monitor shipment status, and proactively resolve transportation issues.
- Generate and manage bills of lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, shipping labels, and export documentation.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for carriers, freight providers, and logistics partners.
- Investigate and resolve freight discrepancies, shipment delays, and damage claims.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing freight costs and improving delivery performance.
- Prepare customer orders for shipment by locating finished goods, verifying quantities, and ensuring order accuracy.
- Package products according to company specifications and quality requirements to prevent damage during transit.
- Print and apply shipping labels and process orders through ERP and shipping systems.
- Maintain accurate shipping records and documentation in accordance with company procedures.
- Perform final quality checks before releasing shipments.
- Receive incoming materials and products from vendors and carriers in a timely and accurate manner.
- Verify incoming shipments against purchase orders, bills of lading, and packing slips.
- Complete ERP transactions for receipts, transfers, and inventory movements.
- Label, store, and organize materials within designated warehouse locations.
- Deliver and stage materials for internal departments including production, quality, engineering, and manufacturing.
- Provide proactive communication regarding shipment status, delivery schedules, and freight-related concerns.
- Respond to customer inquiries and resolve shipping issues in a professional and timely manner.
- Collaborate with sales, customer service, production, planning, and quality teams to meet customer requirements.
- Build positive relationships with customers, vendors, and transportation providers to ensure a high level of service.
- Perform cycle counts and inventory accuracy audits to support inventory control.
- Operate material handling equipment, including pallet jacks and forklifts, following all safety procedures.
- Maintain organized warehouse storage locations and support inventory control activities.
- Assist with material movement and replenishment activities as needed.
- Follow all standard operating procedures (SOPs), quality standards, GMP requirements, and safety procedures.
- Complete required documentation accurately and maintain audit-ready records.
- Participate in process improvement, corrective action, and quality initiatives.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas in accordance with company standards.
Essential Skills
- At least 6 months of experience in a warehouse or manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Hands-on experience with shipping and receiving activities.
- Ability to perform inventory tasks, including cycle counts and inventory audits.
- Capability to operate forklifts and pallet jacks safely (training may be provided).
- Experience with packing and general labor in a warehouse setting.
- Familiarity with warehouse inventory processes and material handling.
- Ability to unload, package, and stage materials efficiently.
- Comfort using RF scanners and related warehouse technology.
- Willingness to be open to training, coaching, and constructive feedback.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in documentation and order processing.
- Ability to follow SOPs, quality standards, GMP requirements, and safety procedures consistently.

Work Environment
You work in a brand-new, climate-controlled warehouse facility designed for comfort and efficiency. The building includes a cafeteria and offers monthly massages, contributing to a supportive and wellness-oriented atmosphere. The warehouse team consists of approximately 30–35 people, fostering a close-knit and collaborative environment. Multiple shift options are available: A and B shifts run Monday–Thursday from 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; C shift runs Monday–Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; and a second shift runs Monday–Friday from 3:30 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. You use material handling equipment such as pallet jacks and forklifts, RF scanners, and ERP/shipping systems while adhering to established safety and quality standards.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Coralville, IA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr.
