Job Title: HVAC Service Technician
Location: Des Moines, Iowa
Position Summary: The HVAC Service Technician performs diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on residential and light commercial heating and cooling systems. This role requires mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, customer interaction, and safe, professional service.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair furnaces, AC units, heat pumps, condensers, air handlers, and thermostats
- Perform preventive maintenance: cleaning, testing, inspecting system components
- Use diagnostic tools such as multimeters, gauges, and combustion analyzers
- Document service findings, parts used, and recommended repairs
- Communicate repair options clearly to customers
- Follow OSHA and company safety procedures
- Assist with installations when needed
- Work with a journeyman technician and coordinate daily assignments
Essential Skills
- 1+ year of residential or light commercial HVAC service experience
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair heating and cooling systems
- Mechanical aptitude and basic electrical knowledge
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Proficiency with HVAC tools and diagnostic equipment
- Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record
- Ability to lift 50 lbs, work in confined spaces, climb ladders, and work in various weather conditions

Work Environment
