Job Description
We are seeking a skilled welder who will be responsible for performing MIG welding on carbon steel components, welding and fabricating various steel components, and ensuring precision and quality in all tasks.
Responsibilities
- Perform MIG welding on carbon steel components (primary process).
- Weld and fabricate components including plate, structural steel, and rolled steel.
- Interpret and weld to prints, blueprints, and weld symbols.
- Fabricate, fit, and weld parts and assemblies to specification.
- Support both custom fabrication projects and repetitive/production work.
- Set up fixtures, jigs, and welding equipment as needed.
- Inspect welds visually and dimensionally for quality and accuracy.
- Follow safety procedures, quality standards, and shop best practices.
- Assist with basic layout, grinding, finishing, and material handling as required.
- Proficiency in MIG welding with at least 2 years of experience.
- Ability to read blueprints and weld symbols.
- Experience in welding, fabrication, and blueprint reading.
- Knowledge of steel welding and use of press brake.
- Familiarity with TIG and Sub-Arc welding is a plus.
- Weld education combined with experience is acceptable.
- Experience with Flux core welding is beneficial.

Work Environment
The work environment is laid back yet goal-oriented, with a strong focus on customer satisfaction. Our custom machine shop is busy, requiring teamwork among our 30-person team. Dress code requires steel-toed boots, and you can wear jeans. You must have your own welding helmet. Shift options include 1st Shift from 6am to 2:30pm and 2nd Shift from 2:30pm to 10:30pm.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Des Moines, IA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $17.00 - $25.00/hr.
