Job Description
The Saw Operator is responsible for accurately cutting metal components used in window and door production. This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to work with various materials and colors, and comfort operating CNC equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Review and follow production schedules and work orders to prioritize daily tasks.
- Retrieve painted metal materials from designated racking systems.
- Identify and select the correct type and color of metal, ensuring accuracy.
- Measure and verify material dimensions using a tape measure to ensure precise cuts.
- Load metal pieces into an Elumatec (CNC) cutting machine.
- Operate the machine by initiating the cutting process and monitoring performance during operation.
- Inspect finished pieces for accuracy and quality.
- Organize and place completed materials in designated rack locations for transfer to downstream departments.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment (minimum 1 year).
- Ability to read a tape measure to 1/16th of an inch.
- Saw operating or CNC experience preferred.
- High attention to detail.
- Awareness of surroundings.
- Willingness to ask questions when unsure.
- Adaptable to cross-training in multiple areas.
- Regularly lifts and handles metal pieces weighing up to approximately 25 lbs.
- Requires use of hearing protection due to elevated noise levels from machinery.
- Standing, bending, and repetitive motion throughout the shift.

Work Environment
This is a fully on-site position in West Des Moines, Iowa. Our 1st shift runs from 6am-2:30pm, five days a week, with preparation for busy season involving 50-hour work weeks and working 2 Saturdays a month. We operate in a manufacturing environment across three facilities which are not temperature controlled. Our team size averages around 100 employees per facility. The dress code includes work-appropriate shirts, jeans or shorts, with steel-toed shoes being mandatory.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $17.50 - $17.50/hr.
