This role oversees large-scale mechanical construction projects with a strong focus on MEP scope, including projects valued at $20M or more. The Mechanical Project Manager develops, estimates, sells, and manages multiple specialized, fast‑track mechanical projects, ensuring high quality, safety, and profitability. The position requires close collaboration with engineering, manufacturing, fabrication, and field teams, as well as active involvement in business development and client relationship management. The Mechanical Project Manager also trains, mentors, and supervises Project Engineers and Project Coordinators, supporting the successful delivery of complex mechanical and plumbing systems.
Responsibilities- Take a leadership role and full ownership of estimates, project scoping, proposals, project safety, and project execution while meeting or exceeding departmental profitability goals.
- Develop, estimate, sell, and manage multiple specialized, fast‑track mechanical construction projects using effective communication, negotiation, scheduling, tracking, document control, and cost/profitability forecasting.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of mechanical systems costing and value analysis to support accurate budgeting and competitive proposals.
- Communicate effectively with internal engineering teams to ensure complete designs that clearly convey scope within the established project budget.
- Collaborate closely with internal manufacturing and fabrication teams to maintain a cohesive, supportive, and results‑driven project approach.
- Attend coordination and model review meetings as required to support design integration and clash resolution.
- Partner with business development teams to help secure new projects and expand the client base through marketing, sales, and relationship building.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships, serving as a primary point of contact throughout the project lifecycle.
- Review estimates prepared by direct reports and establish detailed project budgets that align with financial and operational goals.
- Estimate, price, and negotiate change orders, ensuring fair value and clear documentation.
- Track, forecast, and report labor hours and material costs to maintain accurate financial oversight and project performance visibility.
- Manage buyout of major equipment and subcontractors, including negotiation and contract coordination.
- Expedite and track delivery of major equipment and materials to support project schedules and minimize delays.
- Maintain working knowledge of general conditions, project scope, and contract and subcontract requirements to ensure compliance and risk management.
- Control and maintain project documentation in accordance with company standards and contractual obligations, including drawings, specifications, RFIs, and change orders.
- Collaborate with field supervision to plan, organize, and schedule work, including preparation of integrated project schedules that coordinate multiple trades.
- Review contract drawings, detail drawings, and technical specifications to confirm scope, identify issues, and support constructability.
- Prepare fabrication shop work packages, including detail drawing review, material takeoffs, procurement, and fabrication labor budgeting.
- Ensure full compliance with company safety programs on all jobsites and promote a strong safety culture.
- Provide proactive, clear, and timely communication to all project stakeholders, including internal teams, clients, and subcontractors.
- Demonstrate professionalism and uphold company core values in all interactions and decisions.
- Maintain regular attendance and punctuality as essential job functions to support consistent project leadership.
- Train, mentor, and supervise Project Engineers and Project Coordinators, providing guidance, performance feedback, and career development support.
- Support and collaborate with superintendents, foremen, engineers, detailers, and management to deliver high‑quality, profitable projects.
- Generate business plans and contribute to expanding the revenue base through marketing, sales, and business development efforts.
- Minimum of 1+ years of experience as a project manager for large projects overseeing MEP scope, or 3+ years of experience as a project engineer ready for promotion to project manager.
- Experience managing projects with a minimum of $20M in scope.
- Direct experience managing billings and financials on construction projects.
- High level of technical competency in plumbing scope, including the ability to read and understand drawings related to complex plumbing systems.
- In-depth understanding of mechanical installation sequencing for large, complex projects.
- Proven experience managing and coaching Project Engineers in a construction environment.
- Strong project management and construction management skills, including scheduling, document control, and cost tracking.
- Demonstrated ability to estimate, price, and negotiate change orders.
- Ability to manage RFIs, billings, and project financials accurately and efficiently.
- Basic HVAC and plumbing engineering knowledge.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, manufacturing, fabrication, and field supervision teams.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to provide clear and timely updates to all project stakeholders.
- Ability to review and interpret contract drawings, detail drawings, and technical specifications.
- Commitment to enforcing and maintaining safety standards on all jobsites.
- Preferred minimum of five years’ experience as a mechanical project manager.
- Preferred degree in Construction Management or Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Industrial, or Chemical Engineering.
- Preferred minimum of three years’ experience managing Project Managers and Project Engineers.
- Experience supporting large chip manufacturing facility projects or similar high‑tech industrial environments.
- Experience in mechanical construction, including HVAC and plumbing systems.
- Strong client relationship-building skills and experience contributing to business development efforts.
- Ability to generate business plans and support revenue growth through marketing and sales activities.
- Demonstrated professionalism and alignment with strong core values.
- Ability to train, mentor, and supervise project engineering and coordination staff.
- Comfort working in a fast‑track, specialized project environment with tight schedules and complex scopes.
This is an onsite role at a large, high‑tech construction project, working closely with a dedicated project team in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment. The position is a salaried role with an expectation of approximately 50 hours per week worked on salary, with additional compensation at time and a half for Saturday work. The work involves regular interaction with engineering, manufacturing, fabrication, and field supervision teams, as well as participation in coordination and model review meetings. The environment centers on mechanical construction for advanced industrial facilities, providing exposure to complex MEP systems, HVAC, and plumbing installations, along with robust safety programs and structured project processes.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $105000.00 - $140000.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
