Job Description
The Industrial Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing bakery equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role ensures that all machinery and equipment operate efficiently and safely to meet production goals.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on bakery equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues and implement effective solutions.
- Repair and replace defective parts, components, or systems.
- Conduct regular inspections to identify potential problems and address them proactively.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and repairs.
- Collaborate with production staff to minimize downtime and ensure smooth operations.
- Adhere to safety protocols and company policies.
Essential Skills
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in industrial maintenance, preferably in a bakery or food manufacturing environment.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, particularly with pneumatic-driven equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
- Proficiency in using fabrication equipment such as lathes, mills, drill press, TIG and MIG welding.
- Proficiency with hand and power tools.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays as needed.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- High school graduate or trade school is preferred.

The work environment is a large bakery with approximately 20 bakery employees, 40 shipping/packing staff, 5 packaging staff, and 15 maintenance mechanics. Employees might experience the delightful smell of fresh bread and warmer temperatures during the summer months.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Aurora, IL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $26.00 - $32.00/hr.
