Job Title: Construction Estimator


Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Construction Estimator to analyze drawings and specifications, manage budgeting and scheduling for projects, maintain relationships with subcontractors and clients, and understand construction contractual terms and conditions. The role includes attending pre-bid meetings, performing job site visits, formulating cost breakdowns, and maintaining unit pricing databases for material and labor costing. The estimator will assemble accurate and well-organized estimates and proposals in a timely manner for preconstruction project bids and organize subcontractor quotations to ensure compliance with contract documents. Projects may include commercial or school renovations.


Responsibilities

  • Analyze drawings and specifications.
  • Manage budgeting and scheduling for projects.
  • Maintain relationships with subcontractors and clients.
  • Understand construction contractual terms and conditions.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and perform job site visits.
  • Formulate cost breakdowns from estimates and for project progress.
  • Provide and maintain unit pricing and database for material and labor costing.
  • Assemble accurate and well-organized estimates and proposals in a timely manner for preconstruction project bids.
  • Organize subcontractor quotations and negotiate to ensure quotes meet contract documents.
  • Issue proper documented purchase orders.

Essential Skills

  • Experience with an estimating software for commercial work.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • 5+ years of construction estimating experience.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Connections with subcontractors in the area is desired.
  • Degree preferred but not required.
  • Experience with Union projects ranging between $100k to $10m.
  • Ability to take initiative and operate independently.
  • Must be willing to travel locally and hold a valid driver's license.

Work Environment

This position is based out of the Belleville, IL office, with an expectation of traveling around 3 days weekly to job sites. The work schedule is 5 days onsite with a start time between 7am-8am daily. The candidate will need to drive a personal vehicle, for which reimbursement will be provided. There will be travel to Pekin 4-5 times yearly. The role includes company-provided cell phone and software. After 12 months of employment, the employee is eligible for a Retirement Plan with a company match up to 3% of salary. After 6 months, the employee is eligible for a Section 125 Flex spend plan or a Health Insurance plan with a company contribution. The benefits package includes 11 paid holidays and 1 week of PTO. This is a minority and veteran-owned company, and the role offers a clear path to leading the Belleville office.
