Job Description
This candidate will play a pivotal role in managing and optimizing financial performance. Primary responsibilities will include analyzing and controlling costs, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and driving operational process improvements. This position requires a strong appetite for cost accounting and a keen interest in operational process improvement and creation.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain cost accounting system, documentation, and records.
- Analyze manufacturing costs and prepare regular reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.
- Monitor inventory transactions and reconcile inventory accounts.
- Assist in month-end close of the General Ledger and cost accounting entries.
- Support budgeting and forecasting activities by providing cost data and analysis.
- Conduct physical inventories and monitor the cycle count program.
- Analyze changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods, or services provided to determine effects on cost.
- Provide cost estimates for new products and product modifications.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures.
- Collaborate with operations and engineering to improve cost accuracy and operational efficiency.
- Fundamental understanding of SOX compliance.
Essential Skills
- 5+ years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles and practices.
- Experience with ERP systems related to costing (M2M preferred).
- Experience with standard costing systems.
- Advanced Excel skills; proficiency in data analysis and financial modeling.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (preferred), Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
- Experience with general ledger, inventory management, cost analysis, inventory accounting, month end, forecasting, budgeting, and reconciliation.
- Critical thinking skills for improving and/or creating costing processes, accounting, financial reporting, reporting, accounts payable, and compliance.
Work Environment
The work environment is on-site with travel to Indiana required one week a month to visit other sites.
