Job Title: Packaging Associate
Job Description
The Packaging Associate works in the rollers department to support the production and packaging of paint rollers and related tray kits. You operate and assist with machines that manufacture rollers, assemble tray sets, and perform general packaging and labeling tasks to ensure products are prepared accurately and efficiently for distribution.
Responsibilities
- Work in the rollers department to support production and packaging activities based on operational needs.
- Operate or assist with machines that manufacture paint rollers, including equipment that cuts fabric, glues it to the roller, feeds it through the line, and packages the finished rollers.
- Assemble tray sets that include 9" rollers, paint trays, and roller handles, ensuring all components are correctly packed.
- Perform general packaging duties such as packing, labeling, and working on the packaging line to prepare products for shipment.
- Support general production and assembly tasks as assigned, including basic general labor duties.
- Use pallet jacks as needed to move materials and finished products safely within the facility.
- Maintain consistent attendance and arrive on time for scheduled shifts to support production schedules.
- Follow all safety procedures, including use of required personal protective equipment and adherence to dress code guidelines.
- Stand for the duration of the shift while performing production, packaging, and assembly tasks.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to support efficient production and safe operations.
Essential Skills
- Ability to stand for the entire shift while performing packaging and production tasks.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds on a regular basis.
- Previous packing or packaging experience
- Experience is not needed but preferred.
- Experience in production, general labor, or assembly environments.
- Experience working on a packaging line or in general production.
- Ability to use a pallet jack safely.
- Strong attendance and reliability.
- Ability to follow safety instructions and work in a manufacturing environment with paint and chemical smells.
Work Environment
This role is based in a manufacturing facility that produces paint, paint rollers, kits, and aerosol paint cans, and also handles receiving, production, and distribution from the same location. The facility is not air conditioned. You may work in various areas of the plant depending on production needs and may be required to use pallet jacks and other basic material-handling equipment. The dress code requires steel or composite toe shoes, long pants, and no sleeveless shirts. Piercings and jewelry are not allowed while working. Safety glasses are provided, and ear plugs are required in certain areas of the plant. The environment is fast-paced, production-focused, and hands-on, with an emphasis on safety and teamwork.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cary, IL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr.
