Job Title: CNC Maintenance Technician
Job Description
The CNC Maintenance Technician performs preventive and corrective maintenance on CNC machinery and supports general facility maintenance as needed. This role focuses on troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, maintaining CNC controls, and assisting with the integration and upkeep of robotic machine-tending systems within a modern, highly automated manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on CNC machines to ensure reliable and efficient operation.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems on CNC equipment and related machinery.
- Service and maintain CNC machining centers, including 3-axis and 4-axis machines.
- Maintain and service Fanuc RoboDrill vertical machining centers.
- Support maintenance and servicing of Universal Robots collaborative robotic arms.
- Maintain and troubleshoot Fanuc industrial robots used for machine tending and automation.
- Replace worn components such as ball screws, linear guides, bearings, and belts to restore machine accuracy and performance.
- Diagnose spindle, servo, and drive issues, and implement effective repairs or adjustments.
- Update preventive maintenance schedules and maintain accurate records in a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
- Support the integration, setup, and maintenance of robotic machine-tending systems within the production environment.
- Assist with facility systems such as compressed air systems and electrical panels to ensure continuous operation.
- Participate in end-of-shift cleaning by maintaining a clean and organized work area in accordance with facility standards.
Essential Skills
- Strong knowledge of CNC controls, including FANUC and Okuma OSP, and the ability to perform detailed troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, electrical diagrams, and technical schematics.
- Demonstrated ability to diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues on production machinery.
- Experience using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to document work and manage preventive maintenance schedules.
- Familiarity with robotics and automation systems, including collaborative robots and industrial robots.
- Solid understanding of spindle, servo, and drive systems and the ability to identify and resolve related faults.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and respond effectively to urgent maintenance needs in a production environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with Fanuc RoboDrill vertical machining centers.
- Experience servicing Universal Robots collaborative robotic arms.
- Experience working with Fanuc industrial robots for machine-tending applications.
- Experience maintaining CNC machines from multiple manufacturers, including Okuma and Nakamura.
- Comfort working with various metals, particularly brass, and exposure to different finishing processes.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate maintenance records.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new automation technologies and finishing techniques.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with production and engineering teams.

Work Environment
The role is based in an extremely clean, large three-floor manufacturing facility where cleanliness and organization are part of the daily routine, including end-of-shift cleaning of the work area. The environment is highly technical, featuring CNC machining centers, robotic machine-tending systems, collaborative robots, and industrial robots. The facility focuses on producing faucets and related products for schools, hospitals, and labs, working primarily with brass and other metals, and applying different finishes across various product lines. Team members may work around polishing equipment such as buffers and polishers, and receive training in multiple finishing techniques. The atmosphere reflects a long-established, family-owned culture with over 200 employees, emphasizing safety, quality, and continuous improvement in a modern, well-maintained production setting.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Chicago, IL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $36.00/hr.
