Job Title: Superintendent


Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to lead the building of a new visitor center at Lake Red Rock in Iowa. This exciting project will last until January 1, 2027, after which the existing building will be demolished. This role offers the opportunity to be a key player in supervising a significant federal project, ensuring that all construction phases—from preconstruction to close-out—are executed with the highest standards of safety and quality.


Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre-construction and safety meetings with the Project Manager.
  • Implement and manage the Four Point Quality Control Plan.
  • Coordinate mobilization of equipment and personnel.
  • Finalize the construction schedule with the Project Manager.
  • Establish and verify the quality control program during construction.
  • Maintain safety programs and conduct daily inspections.
  • Oversee subcontractor labor force and conduct weekly meetings.
  • Schedule and coordinate inspections and testing.
  • Maintain required documentation and correspondence.
  • Upload daily and weekly logs and inspection sheets to the electronic project file.
  • Schedule and coordinate punch list work during construction close-out.
  • Coordinate the completion of as-builts and review close-out documents.
  • Close all site files and coordinate demobilization of equipment and personnel.

Essential Skills

  • 10+ years of experience in federal vertical construction as a superintendent.
  • Proficiency in procedural experience and knowledge of construction trades.
  • OSHA 30 certification.
  • Quality Control Manager (QCM) certification from USACE preferred
  • Professional experience using Procore.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working on DoD and USACE projects is desired.
  • Familiarity with Procore and Bluebeam software.

Work Environment

The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 7 AM to 4 PM. Candidates have the option of a 9-month contract-to-hire or a long-term contract, based on preference. There is a negotiable home rotation stipend for those not within drivable distance for weekend rotations. Per Diem is available to qualified candidates. Candidates have the flexibility to choose between hourly or salary pay, though salary is preferred. The position includes two weeks of accrued paid time off and six major holidays.
