Job Title: Machine Operator / Material Handler
Hiring on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift
Job Description
This role operates a variety of industrial machines and material handling equipment in a metals manufacturing and fabrication environment. You will load and unload machines, monitor production processes, and use overhead cranes, forklifts, and hand and power tools to support a high-volume production line. The position offers cross-training on multiple types of presses and equipment, clear advancement paths, and substantial opportunities for overtime.
Responsibilities
- Operate a range of production equipment, including drill presses, shear presses, punch presses, straightening presses, torches, and other metal processing machines.
- Load and unload machines safely and efficiently, ensuring materials and parts move smoothly through each stage of the process.
- Monitor machines during operation to ensure products make it through the process correctly and meet quality expectations.
- Use overhead cranes, forklifts, CombiLift equipment, and other material handling tools to lift, move, and position products and materials.
- Operate saws and other cutting equipment as needed to support production requirements.
- Use hand and power tools to complete tasks such as adjustments, minor maintenance, and general production work.
- Clean quench tanks and maintain clean, organized work areas to support safety and efficiency.
- Perform housekeeping and special clean-up duties as assigned, including removing debris and maintaining clear walkways and workstations.
- Follow all safety procedures and instructions when working around furnaces, heat treating machines, heavy CNC machinery, forklifts, and cranes.
- Work as part of a general production and machine operating team, supporting metal stamping, production line activities, and general assembly tasks as needed.
- Lift boxes, materials, and parts weighing up to 50 pounds repeatedly throughout the shift.
- Follow directions from supervisors and leads, including daily production meeting updates and task assignments.
- Participate in cross-training across multiple areas based on production needs, learning additional machines and processes over time.
- Support consistent production output by maintaining focus, staying on task, and communicating issues or concerns promptly

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Crystal Lake, IL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
