Job Title: Site Safety Specialist
Job Description
The Site Safety Specialist oversees and drives the safety program on construction sites. This role focuses on ensuring a safe work environment, enforcing safety standards, and promoting a strong safety culture throughout all phases of construction. The position involves frequent travel to various project locations and requires expertise in electrical safety and mission-critical construction environments.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the site safety program on active construction projects, with a focus on mission-critical and data center environments.
- Monitor day-to-day construction activities to ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and industry best practices.
- Conduct regular site safety inspections and audits, identifying hazards and ensuring timely corrective actions.
- Promote and enforce electrical safety practices in accordance with NFPA 70E and OSHA standards.
- Oversee safe rigging and lifting operations, ensuring proper procedures and equipment use.
- Ensure safe operation and use of man-lifts and scissor lifts, including verification of training and adherence to safety guidelines.
- Track and document recordable incidents and near misses, maintaining accurate safety records and reports.
- Provide safety guidance and support to site teams, subcontractors, and field personnel.
- Participate in or support safety meetings, toolbox talks, and safety training sessions as needed.
- Collaborate with project stakeholders to continuously improve site safety performance and culture.
- Travel regularly to multiple project sites to provide on-site safety oversight and support.
Essential Skills
- Proven experience in safety coordination or safety management on construction sites.
- Experience working on mission-critical or data center construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and standards.
- OSHA 30 certification.
- Hands-on experience with electrical safety in construction environments.
- Experience overseeing rigging and lifting operations.
- Experience with the safe use and oversight of man-lifts and scissor lifts.
- Ability to track and document recordable incidents and maintain safety records.
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently to various construction sites.
Additional Skills (Nice to Haves)
- OSHA 500 certification.
- NFPA 70E electrical safety knowledge and experience.
- Background in mission-critical and hyperscale data center construction.
- Familiarity with safety practices specific to data center and hyperscale facilities.
- Strong communication skills to effectively influence and promote a positive safety culture.
- Ability to collaborate with diverse construction teams and stakeholders.
Work Environment
This role operates in a mixed work environment that includes both on-site construction settings and office-based tasks. The Site Safety Coordinator spends significant time at active mission-critical and data center construction sites, where conditions may include noise, varying weather, and exposure to typical construction activities and equipment. Frequent travel is required to visit multiple project locations. When not on site, the role includes office work such as documentation, reporting, and planning, using standard office technology and software. Appropriate safety gear and personal protective equipment are required and routinely used in the field.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Edwardsville, IL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.
