Overview
We are seeking skilled Trim Carpenters to join our team working on the construction of new daycare and early learning centers throughout the Chicagoland area. This role offers the opportunity to work on modern commercial construction projects, completing high-end interior finishes that help create safe, welcoming environments for children and families.
You'll work alongside a dedicated crew of experienced carpenters and a foreman on projects from ground-up construction through final interior finishes.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, layouts, and project specifications
- Install commercial finish carpentry components, including:
- Baseboard and trim
- Door frames and hardware
- Millwork and casework
- Interior finish details
- Perform quality finish work with attention to detail and craftsmanship
- Assist with drywall finishing and punch-list items as needed
- Install commercial doors, frames, and related hardware
- Support ceiling grid and acoustic ceiling installation when required
- Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment
Essential Skills
- 2+ years of trim carpentry or finish carpentry experience
- Experience on commercial construction projects
- Experience with commercial door and hardware installation
- Ceiling grid and acoustic ceiling experience
- Drywall finishing experience
- Ability to read blueprints and construction drawings
- Strong knowledge of hand and power tools
- Reliable transportation to project sites
- Ability to lift, carry, and work in an active construction environment
- Personal trim carpentry tools

Work Environment
Expect to wear jeans, a t-shirt, and safety boots as part of the dress code. Work hours are typically from 6 AM to 2:30 PM, though they may vary with the construction schedule. You will often work alongside 1-2 other carpenters and a foreman, providing an opportunity for teamwork and skill enhancement in a friendly atmosphere. Job sites will be Bannockburn, La Grange, and St Charles, IL
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elgin, IL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $45.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
