The Service Technician will support new custom machine builds, installations, troubleshooting, overhauls, audits, and repair of high-speed automation equipment both in-house and at customer sites.
Responsibilities- Work out of the Technical Center and support eight Metal Beverage Sites.
- Follow engineering drawings and specifications to build and overhaul high-speed automation equipment and sub-assemblies.
- Disassemble existing systems, evaluate conditions for wear and damage, and reassemble using new or reconditioned parts.
- Assemble small machine subassemblies to support the spare part program.
- Utilize hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical drawings to build and perform required service.
- Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures and quality standards.
- Use precision measuring and gauging tools to perform required inspection before, during, and after machine build or rebuild.
- Recommend process improvements for equipment design and assembly processes.
- Safely operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and hand power tools during machine build or overhauls.
- Work in a team environment during day and night shifts based on production schedule requirements.
- Build machines from scratch using prints and CAD drawings.
- Travel to various client sites to install and complete final assembly of machines.
- Read manuals and CAD drawings to assemble machines.
- Fit bearings, bushings, align drive gears, attach motors, and connect belts.
- Paint or clean parts for assembly as required.
- Use hand, power, and pneumatic tools to assemble machine subassemblies and final products.
- Use cutting torches, welding machines, or soldering guns as needed.
- Perform metalworking including using grinders and lathes to form or fit parts.
- Assemble and disassemble complex machinery.
- Order parts to client sites as required using catalogs or other methods.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 2 years of mechanical assembly or machinist experience.
- Ability to pass a Mechanical Aptitude test.
- Willingness to travel up to 50%.
- Ability to lift 75lbs.
- Agility to stand, bend, kneel, climb, reach, and pull.
- Welding skills are a plus but not required.
- Ability to operate a lathe or milling machine is a plus but not required.

Work EnvironmentWork at the Technical Center with mock production lines for customers to see product offerings. The position is on 1st shift, Monday to Friday, from 6 am to 2:30 pm. Candidates will work 10-12 hour days while traveling.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elk Grove Village, IL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $36.70 - $46.00/hr.
