We are seeking a skilled welder experienced in MIG/Flux Core/STICK welding, particularly on heavy gauge steel of 1 inch and above. The role involves setting up and operating welding machines, performing simple fabrications, and using hand tools and measuring devices to ensure precision in work. The candidate will complete welds within specific time frames, perform simple layouts, and utilize torches, air arcs, and other tools to correct imperfections. Reading and interpreting blueprints and weld symbols are essential, as well as maintaining a clean work area.
Responsibilities- Perform MIG/Flux Core/STICK welding on heavy gauge steel of 1 inch and above.
- Set up and operate welding machines and perform simple fabrications.
- Utilize hand tools and measuring devices, such as micrometers and calipers.
- Complete welds within specified time frames and perform simple layouts.
- Utilize torches, air arcs, hand grinding, fixture, and tooling aids to fix imperfections.
- Weld in flat, horizontal, and vertical positions.
- Read and interpret weld symbols and blueprints.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Lift up to 60 lbs as required.
- 2+ years of MIG welding experience.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and weld symbols.
- Experience in welding on 1-inch heavy gauge steel.
- Proficiency in fabrication and fitting tasks.
- Experience with MIG/STICK welding.
- Familiarity with different welding positions.

Work EnvironmentWork in a large production steel fabrication shop equipped with several CNC machines and weld booths. Located in the historic Whiting building in Harvey, the environment can be hot in the summer and cold in the winter. Steel toe boots and weld gear are required. The company supplies products to major clients, ensuring a steady workflow with projects like high-speed train contracts lasting over five years.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $28.00/hr.
