Job Description
The Press Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of industrial press equipment used in the production of specialty materials and chemical products. This position ensures that products are manufactured to specification while meeting quality, safety, and productivity requirements at the Itasca manufacturing facility.
Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and monitor press equipment according to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Load raw materials into press machines and remove finished or semi‑finished products.
- Adjust press settings such as pressure, speed, and cycle time to meet product specifications.
- Inspect parts during and after production to ensure quality, dimensions, and consistency.
- Identify and report equipment malfunctions, quality concerns, or safety issues.
- Complete production documentation, batch records, and quality checks accurately.
- Perform routine cleaning, basic maintenance, and changeovers on press equipment.
- Follow all safety policies, including lockout/tagout, machine guarding, and PPE requirements.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas in accordance with 5S and lean manufacturing standards.
- Work collaboratively with supervisors, quality, maintenance, and other operators to optimize production.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to safety, quality, and efficiency.
- Ability to lift 30 lbs. occasionally.
- 6 months of manufacturing experience.
- Some machine operating experience.
- Safety oriented.
- Experience in solder manufacturing.
- Detail orientation.
- Knowledge of production instructions and quality standards.
- Familiarity with blueprints and hand tools.

Work Environment
The position is for the 2nd Shift from 2pm-10:30pm, Monday-Friday. The work takes place in a small press environment within the 940 building, requiring work in various departments. It includes a clean room setting, where wearing safety shoes, shoe covers, and beard/hair nets is required.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Itasca, IL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $21.00 - $23.00/hr.
