Job Description
The Production Supervisor oversees daily manufacturing operations on the production floor, with a strong focus on extrusion lines. This role ensures smooth workflow, maintains quality control standards, supports and leads the team, and drives continuous process improvements. The Production Supervisor also acts as the primary floor lead when the primary leader is unavailable, ensuring consistent communication, safety compliance, and operational efficiency across shifts.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily production floor activities and ensure all tasks are completed safely, accurately, and on schedule.
- Act as the primary lead on the floor when the designated leader is unavailable, providing direction and support to the team.
- Maintain efficient flow on extrusion lines by monitoring performance, adjusting processes, and resolving bottlenecks in real time.
- Enforce quality control standards by inspecting products, approving profiles, and ensuring all output meets specifications.
- Train new hires on standard operating procedures, equipment operation, and line adjustments, ensuring they understand expectations and safety requirements.
- Provide ongoing coaching and guidance to production staff to improve performance, accuracy, and adherence to procedures.
- Enforce the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety protocols at all times on the production floor.
- Assist with internal and external safety and quality audits, ensuring documentation and practices meet required standards.
- Complete all required shift paperwork, including production reports, logs, scrap reports, attendance records, and handoff notes.
- Support effective shift-to-shift communication by documenting key issues, updates, and priorities for incoming teams.
- Identify operational inefficiencies and recommend or implement process improvements to enhance productivity and reduce waste.
- Monitor scrap levels, analyze causes, and work with the team to reduce scrap and improve yield.
- Support and lead team members in a fast-paced environment, ensuring alignment with production goals and timelines.
- Assist with staffing and task delegation on the floor to ensure optimal coverage and efficient use of resources.
- Stay available to work late or overtime as needed and support Saturday production during peak seasons.
- Travel between facilities when required to support operations, training, or process alignment.
- High school diploma or GED.
- 5+ years of manufacturing experience, with extrusion experience strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to lead teams in a fast-paced production environment.
- Production supervision and production management experience.
- Strong understanding of industrial operations, particularly in extrusion and plastics manufacturing.
- Ability to troubleshoot production bottlenecks and maintain consistent flow on extrusion lines.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills for completing reports, logs, and documentation.
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds as needed during normal production activities.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, industrial environment with exposure to heat from extrusion equipment.
- Willingness and ability to stay late or work overtime as needed.
- Saturday availability during peak seasons.
- Strong communication skills to support training, coaching, and shift-to-shift handoffs.
- Commitment to enforcing safety protocols and PPE usage.
- AS or BS degree in Engineering or a related field.
- 1–2 years of experience as a lead, team lead, or supervisor.
- Experience training operators specifically on extrusion lines.
- Bilingual skills in English and Spanish.
- Ability to travel between facilities when needed.
- Demonstrated process improvement mindset and experience identifying and implementing operational enhancements.
- Strong interpersonal skills to support coaching, feedback, and team development.

The production floor can be warm due to the operation of extrusion machines, though conditions remain manageable with appropriate safety practices and PPE. The environment is industrial, hands-on, and team-oriented, with frequent interaction across shifts and departments. Standard schedules are structured around a consistent 40-hour workweek, with occasional overtime and Saturday work during peak seasons. The position involves standing for extended periods, moving throughout the production area, and lifting up to 50+ pounds as part of normal duties, while working with modern production equipment, extrusion lines, and standard office software for reporting and documentation.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $90000.00/yr.
