Job Title: CNC Field Service Technician
Job Description
The CNC Field Service Technician travels to customer facilities across the United States to troubleshoot, maintain, and repair proprietary CNC industrial machinery. This role focuses on ensuring equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and maintaining high customer satisfaction through expert technical support, accurate documentation using a maintenance app, and clear, professional communication. The position is well-suited for candidates located near major airports who are comfortable working on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and software-related systems, including PLCs and CNC controls.
Responsibilities
- Travel to customer sites nationwide to perform troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs on proprietary CNC industrial machinery.
- Conduct in-person customer visits to perform scheduled preventive maintenance on CNC and industrial equipment.
- Perform safe and proper installation of wear items and minor components in accordance with manufacturer and company standards.
- Carry out basic diagnostics and troubleshooting on CNC systems, including mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and software-related issues.
- Program and adjust CNC machines and work with PLCs to support machine performance and reliability.
- Perform electrical troubleshooting on CNC systems, including PLCs and VFDs, wiring, and electronic components.
- Capture drive backups and create clear before-and-after photo documentation of machinery to show service condition and completed work.
- Generate detailed maintenance reports documenting findings, wear-and-tear, and components that require repair or replacement.
- Proactively identify parts and components that should be replaced, repaired, or scheduled for follow-up service to reduce downtime and improve machine performance.
- Accurately track and submit travel time, labor hours, and job-related details using the Salesforce field technician app or maintenance app.
- Submit business expenses accurately and on time in accordance with company policy.
- Identify and communicate opportunities for improvement in mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and software areas based on field observations and customer feedback.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with machine operators and customer stakeholders to ensure proper machine operation and high customer satisfaction.
- Collaborate closely with internal teams, including service coordination, parts, engineering, and operations, to resolve issues and achieve service objectives.
- Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while working on customer sites and within the facility.
Essential Skills
- Proven CNC maintenance experience on industrial CNC machinery.
- Strong electrical troubleshooting skills, including experience with PLCs and VFDs.
- Hands-on experience with CNC machine programming and adjustments.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.
- Experience with maintenance troubleshooting for mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electronic systems.
- Field service experience, including working independently at customer sites.
- Proficiency with electronics and wiring for industrial machinery.
- Ability to use maintenance and field service applications, including Salesforce or similar tools, to document work, track time, and submit reports.
- Valid passport to support required travel.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for clear interaction with customers and internal teams.
- Attention to detail in documentation, reporting, and photo records of service work.
- Commitment to safety and adherence to company and manufacturer standards.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience performing CNC maintenance and repair specifically on Voortman CNC machines is a plus.
- Experience in service, maintenance technician roles, or similar industrial maintenance positions.
- Familiarity with continuous improvement practices and identifying opportunities to enhance machine performance and uptime.
- Comfort working in a field-based role with frequent travel and varying customer environments.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose complex issues across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and software domains.

Work Environment
Work is based out of a brand-new, state-of-the-art, temperature-controlled facility that supports an expanding operation. The facility currently has around 50 production employees and plans to grow by more than 100 additional team members, providing a dynamic and evolving environment. The culture emphasizes work–life balance and a focus on completing each job with high-quality work rather than rushing. The role involves regular travel to customer sites across the United States, often making proximity to major airports beneficial. Candidates will primarily work day shift, with start times adjusted based on customer needs. The environment involves working with advanced CNC machinery, PLCs, VFDs, and related industrial equipment, both in the facility and at customer locations.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $100000.00/yr.
