Description
This position is for a Surface Grinder Machinist in a job shop environment will be producing a variety of parts which will mostly be low volume part runs. Individuals will be assigned to a rebuild machine project where they will receive blueprints from engineering, then be assigned to their machine, producing the parts by setting up and operating their own machines, running them and then ensuring the quality is met. Job Functions Working knowledge of different types of shop equipment including, surface grinders, knee mills, lathes, powered scrappers, manual scrapers. Capability to hold tight tolerances to 0.0002” The ability to perform mechanical assembly of machine segments with close fit tolerances Will have your own tools including indicators, micrometers, calipers, wrenches, screwdrivers, dead blow hammers, etc. Working knowledge of dial calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators. Shop Math skills and the ability to read prints. Job Requirements Entry level out of a trade school or up to 10 years of experience in surface grinding, will have done some machining, and some mechanical restoration Ability to read, interpret and set up machines off of blueprints Ability to use a micrometer, caliper and other tools. If experienced, they are expected to own tools
