Job Description
The General Utility role supports both production and warehouse operations by safely handling materials, assisting machine operators, and helping to keep the work area clean and organized. You will work in a fast-paced environment that requires frequent lifting, consistent teamwork, and a strong focus on safety and reliability.
Responsibilities
- Support production lines by supplying materials, assisting machine operators, and helping to keep equipment running efficiently.
- Unload and load cardboard and other materials from trucks or staging areas in a safe and timely manner.
- Palletize products and materials according to established procedures to ensure safe storage and transport.
- Operate or assist with machine loading to keep production flowing smoothly.
- Handle general warehouse tasks, including inventory support and material movement, as directed by supervisors.
- Use forklifts or other material handling equipment, when qualified, to move products and materials throughout the facility.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area by following housekeeping standards and promptly addressing debris or hazards.
- Follow all safety policies and procedures, including proper lifting techniques and safe operation of equipment.
- Work collaboratively with team members and communicate effectively to meet production and shipping schedules.
- Consistently arrive on time and maintain reliable attendance to support continuous operations in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Skills
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and regularly lift, carry, and move 50–75 lbs.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods in a fast-paced warehouse and production environment.
- Previous manufacturing, production, or warehouse experience.
- Forklift experience and ability to safely operate material handling equipment, where required.
- Experience with machine loading or working alongside machine operators.
- Basic understanding of palletizing and material handling practices.
- Strong teamwork skills and the ability to work collaboratively with production and warehouse teams.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality, with a demonstrated ability to show up consistently and on time.
- Comfort working in environments with loud noise, dust, moving objects, and mechanical equipment.
- Commitment to following safety procedures and maintaining a safe work area.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Prior experience supporting production lines or machine operators.
- Hands-on experience in inventory support or general warehouse operations.
- Comfort using forklifts, pallet jacks, or similar equipment in a manufacturing or warehouse setting.
- Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and willingness to learn new processes and equipment.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and support multiple tasks within production and warehouse operations.

Work Environment
This role is based in a non–climate-controlled warehouse and production environment where temperatures can vary and exposure to cold, heat, damp, or humid conditions may occur. You will regularly work around loud noise, dust, mechanical hazards, moving objects, and moving vehicles such as forklifts and other material handling equipment. The position involves frequent standing, walking, lifting, and handling of materials throughout the shift, with a strong emphasis on safe work practices and awareness of surrounding equipment and traffic.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sycamore, IL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.50 - $21.05/hr.
