Description
Summary: The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties trouble shooting training and making work flow recommendations.
Job Responsibilities:
- Experience doing blood draws labeling specimens centrifuging specimens recording maintenance data and decontamination updating patient information etc.
- Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
- Properly explains in a clear but courteous manner the process of the venipuncture blood drawing and or other specimen collection ex. urine or fecal as required.
- Demonstrate technique/s using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
- Fully understand all of the physicians' orders.
- Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
- Label centrifuge split and freeze specimens as required by test order.
- Check all test requisitions or computer label against script to ensure 100 correct.
- Package specimens for transport.
- Stores specimen sample according to required temperature places samples in appropriate collection container/ tube
- Accurately labels follows different procedures as outlined by specific to protocol deemed necessary for transport to maintain integrity of the specimen.
- Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
- Attend annual department trainings.
- Answer telephone calls read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
- Mainly working with adults and geriatrics
- They will be drawing and processing. We are looking for at least two years of experience, someone who is a multi-tasker, has critical thinking skills, and excellent customer service.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Must Have:
- 2 years of experience as a phlebotomist
- Pediatric - geriatric draw experience is needed (Ages 2+)
- Candidate must have straight needle blood drawing experience.
- HS Diploma or GED
Worksite details:
- Position is located onsite near the Tinley Park Area.
- Need to have availability between 7am-4pm during the week
- Need to have open availability on weekends and holidays
- Part Time - Candidate will work ~20 hours each week
- Candidates will need to be able to travel between 2 different locations within the same area depending on the shift and need
- Hospital setting has about 30-40 patients they need to draw each day. This work will be split among 2 phlebotomists
Pay:
- $20-23/hr.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tinley Park, IL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $23.00/hr.
