Job Description
The Deburrer performs precision finishing operations on metal components to remove burrs and surface imperfections after machining. This role uses a variety of hand and power tools to smooth edges, improve part quality, and ensure components meet safety, functionality, and assembly specifications. The position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to follow blueprints and work instructions, and close collaboration with machinists and quality inspectors in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform deburring and finishing operations on metal parts after machining to remove burrs, sharp edges, and surface imperfections.
- Use hand tools, pneumatic grinders, small power tools, and other finishing equipment to smooth and polish surfaces.
- Visually inspect parts to verify compliance with quality standards, drawings, and specifications.
- Follow blueprints, work instructions, and job travelers to ensure accuracy and consistency in deburring and finishing processes.
- Use basic measurement tools to confirm dimensions and tolerances as required.
- Communicate promptly with machinists and quality inspectors to resolve issues related to part quality, fit, or finish.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with company safety policies and procedures.
- Work both independently and as part of a team to meet production schedules and quality targets.
- Perform repetitive tasks and handle small precision components with care and consistency.
- Demonstrate reliable attendance and punctuality to support continuous manufacturing operations.
- Hands-on experience or demonstrated ability with deburring, metal finishing, polishing, grinding, and buffing tasks.
- Strong attention to detail when working with small precision components and finished surfaces.
- Ability to read and follow blueprints and written work instructions.
- Basic proficiency with measurement tools used in manufacturing inspection and quality checks.
- Ability to perform visual inspection to verify part quality and conformance to specifications.
- Capability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive manual tasks throughout the shift.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Strong reliability, consistent attendance, and commitment to meeting production and quality expectations.
- Familiarity with manufacturing inspection and manufacturing quality processes.
- Previous experience in manufacturing, machining, or metal finishing environments is a plus.
- Comfort working with pneumatic grinders, small power tools, and various hand tools.
- Preferred ability to read blueprints and use basic measurement devices such as calipers or micrometers.
- Openness to learning new equipment and processes within a modern machining and finishing operation.
- Willingness to work overtime as needed based on production demands.

Work Environment
This role is based in a large, 130,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility located on a 10-acre site, operating three shifts and running 24 hours a day, 7 days per week. The position works on 1st shift, from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., typically scheduled for 40 hours per week, with the expectation of being open to overtime as production needs arise rather than expecting consistent overtime. The environment is a high-volume, precision machining operation with over 90 pieces of manufacturing equipment, including Matsuura and Makino vertical and horizontal machining centers, saw cutting systems, wash systems, and advanced flexible machining systems with large pallet capacities for on-demand production. The facility serves a wide range of markets, including hydraulics, agriculture, medical, construction, material handling, energy, RV, defense, machine tool, and transportation. Work is performed on the shop floor around automated and manual equipment, requiring adherence to strict safety practices and the ability to stand for extended periods while handling small precision parts and operating hand and power tools.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.
