Job Title: CNC Machine Operator
Job Description
The CNC Machine Operator produces precision machined parts by setting up, programming, and operating CNC machines while consistently meeting quality and safety standards. This role interprets blueprints and engineering drawings, monitors machine performance, and ensures that all parts conform to specifications in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC machines according to blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions.
- Program or load CNC programs as required and make basic edits to optimize performance and part quality.
- Monitor machine operations and adjust feeds, speeds, and tooling to maintain accuracy and efficiency.
- Inspect machined parts using precision measurement tools to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues with machine performance, tooling, or part quality.
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance on CNC machines to keep equipment in good working condition.
- Set up and optimize tooling and workholding for multi-axis machining operations when required.
- Follow all safety guidelines, standard operating procedures, and company policies while working on the production floor.
- Maintain accurate production records, including job documentation, inspection results, and machine logs.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to improve processes, reduce downtime, and enhance overall productivity.
- Assist with basic assembly tasks related to machined components when needed.
Essential Skills
- Hands-on CNC machine operation experience or formal CNC/machine operating schooling.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings accurately.
- Proficiency in using precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Working knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Experience with basic CNC programming and G-code editing.
- Ability to set up and run CNC lathes and mills.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on producing high-quality parts.
- Solid problem-solving skills for troubleshooting machining and equipment issues.
- Reliability and consistency in following procedures, safety practices, and production schedules.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with CAD/CAM software such as Mastercam, Fusion 360, or SolidWorks.
- Experience in multi-axis machining, including tooling setup and optimization.
- Knowledge of preventative maintenance practices and basic mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.
- CNC or trade school certification; NIMS and OSHA-related certifications are a plus.
- Experience with assembly of machined components.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team-oriented production environment.

Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Union, IL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.50 - $24.38/hr.
