Job Title: CNC Machine Operator
Job Description
The CNC Machine Operator produces precision machined parts by setting up, programming, and operating CNC machines while consistently meeting quality and safety standards. This role involves interpreting blueprints, monitoring production, and maintaining equipment to support efficient and reliable manufacturing operations.
Responsibilities
- Set up CNC machines according to blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions.
- Program CNC machines as needed, including basic G-code editing to support production requirements.
- Operate CNC lathes and mills to produce parts that meet specified dimensions and tolerances.
- Inspect machined parts using precision measurement tools to verify they meet quality standards and specifications.
- Interpret blueprints and engineering drawings to determine machining requirements and sequence of operations.
- Troubleshoot machining issues and adjust machine settings to maintain optimal performance and part quality.
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance on CNC equipment to keep machines in good working condition.
- Assist with tooling setup and optimization, including multi-axis machining configurations.
- Follow all safety guidelines and procedures to maintain a safe work area and protect equipment.
- Maintain accurate production records, including documentation of setups, inspections, and machine adjustments.
- Support basic assembly tasks related to machined components when required.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to resolve production challenges and improve processes.
Essential Skills
- Hands-on CNC machine operation experience with lathes and mills.
- Ability to set up CNC machines using blueprints and work instructions.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and engineering drawings.
- Experience inspecting parts to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
- Basic CNC programming skills and familiarity with G-code editing.
- Ability to perform routine maintenance on CNC machines and related equipment.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure precision and accuracy in machined parts.
- Effective problem-solving skills for troubleshooting machining and equipment issues.
- Reliability and consistency in following safety guidelines and production procedures.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with CAD/CAM software such as Mastercam, Fusion 360, or SolidWorks.
- Knowledge of G-code editing for program adjustments and optimization.
- Proficiency using precision measurement tools including calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Experience with multi-axis machining and tooling setup/optimization.
- Experience in preventative maintenance and basic mechanical/electrical troubleshooting.
- CNC or trade school certification; NIMS and OSHA certifications are a plus.
- Prior machine operating or CNC experience or relevant technical schooling.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment to producing high-quality work.

Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Union, IL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.50 - $24.38/hr.
