Job Description
The Optical Lab Technician plays a vital role in managing all aspects of the in-house edging operation for our products. This position involves operating and maintaining edging equipment, ensuring optimal lab performance, and supporting continuous improvement efforts within the lab and warehouse.
Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain edging equipment to ensure optimal lab performance.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized lab and warehouse environment at all times.
- Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying process efficiencies and communicating recommendations to management.
- Perform daily lab functions including blocking, cleaning, lens edging, and supporting the entire process flow.
- Pull lenses for customer orders and prepare organized stacks for edger stations.
- Prepare and process orders accurately, efficiently, and within established service level expectations.
- Handle frames and lenses with care throughout all production processes while identifying and correcting defects as needed.
- Conduct product inspections and adjust or resolve defects to ensure quality standards are met.
- Perform accurate inventory counts across bins, boxes, and storage locations.
- Interpret and execute special instructions to ensure error-free order fulfillment.
- Meet or exceed daily lab production and volume goals.
- Partner effectively with warehouse and operations teams to support workflow and shipping demands.

- 2 years of production experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Comfortable standing for 8 hours per day and utilizing hands to mold and shape glasses frames.
- Ability to hit volume production goals.

Work Environment
The work environment is very clean and modern, resembling an eye doctor's office. You will have the opportunity to work independently, using headphones, as long as you meet production quotas.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Vernon Hills, IL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $22.00/hr.
